It has been 1 1/2 years since we tried to reach a settlement with this company regarding the quality and problems with the work they performed at our home. Initially they were hired to replace an asphalt driveway, however, after totally removing the asphalt driveway, they approached us for an additional $3,000 dollars for gravel to replace a driveway which had been in place for 28+ years. At the beginning of the process, Mr. Smith, et al, were licensed by the BBB, however, after hiring a professional engineer to evaluate the work done at our home, and then asking the BBB for arbitration, Mr. Smith not only questioned the professional engineers report, he also refused two requests by the BBB to arbitrate the matter. One letter was sent by registered mail from the president of the BBB to the company. On 7/9, the BBB board met and revoked their membership because of their refusal to answer and abide by the BBB standards. They submitted one video of a hose, briefly running down the driveway as their evidence. When a second request for arbitration was submitted, they again refused, and their BBB rating is now a F. Please do not use this company. The concrete they poured is only 3,000 psi, and 3,500 to 4,000 psi is recommended. We are left with shoddy, cracking concrete, wood rot on the garage door framing where water is funneling back towards the home and as the engineer's report stated, eventual settling of the homes foundation because of the water infiltration.
Please, unless you are a K-mart, Wal-mart (and want a flat, parking lot of asphalt) DO NOT HIRE this company. They are not equipped to do concrete work. Also, please check out the BBB page and their F rating because of two refusals to go to binding arbitration.

They contacted us back the very next day and actually came the day after that, and they did a good job. It was really good and quick. They came when they said they would, they were efficient, they got it done, and it looks good. My husband did all of that with them so I didn't have first hand interaction with them. From what he said, they were really easy to work with.

We originally hired Eddie Smith and Sons to replace our 28 year old asphalt driveway with a new asphalt driveway. The price was $5300. After removing our existing driveway they came to the door to tell us the new price for an asphalt driveway was $8300 but we could have a concrete driveway for the same price, $8300, so we went with concrete. This turned out to be a BIG mistake. The new concrete driveway cracked after 3 days. The finish contains pot marks, scratches, foot prints and numerous imperfections. In several places water sits on the driveway, because the driveway was graded incorrectly. Some of the sitting water runs towards the house causing wood damage. We have pictures of the standing water, and also vidoe that documents the problems. We have sent at least three e-mails asking for resolution and assistance. This is a a commercial asphalt paver that should not be doing residential concrete driveways. They simply do not have the necessary skills to do concrete. This job was so poorly done we filed a formal complaint with the South Carolina Better Business Bureau and will also be contacting the The South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs.

6/26/2014 update: After hiring a licensed concrete engineer who documented the problems with the new concrete driveway the BBB requested an arbitration hearing with the company. The company refused and has now lost their BBB accreditation. Buyer beware.

Eddie smith is easy to work with and was always timely and cleaned up the area when they left. No complaints whatsoever and would recommend them to others. Good quaility and value.

Jack Smith was polite and professional. He arrived on time and measured for the estimate even tho it was pouring with rain. He was willing to take the time to discuss various solutions to our requirements. He and his crew arrived on time for the actual installation and all were polite and professional. The work was completed on time and the whole area was cleaned/tidied up before they left. Later, an Inconsiderate unknown, using our entrance for a u-turn, gouged two large tire sized divots into the asphalt and Jack returned to make a neat repair without charge. I was very impressed and would employ him again.

They were very quick. We have a long drive away. They finished the work on the same day, even though they had to wait for the concrete truck; they had a lapse time. I would use them in the future.

The price was reasonable. They were prompt and efficient. There are some little cracks but it is holding up pretty well.

Great. Lots of big trees to remove as the lot was very wooded. Eddie's grandson managed the job and they were on-time worked hard and did great work. it is now been 4 years and it still looks great. A++. B on price as they were a little high. But you get what you pay for.

Foreman Jack Smith and crew were on time & professional. Jack and his crew are very, very meticulous and neat. They take pride in their work as is evident by their attention to details. The job was completed and they left; minutes later a storm approached and they returned to cover the wet concrete to avoid any damage. Never thought we would call our driveway beautiful, but it is!
