Stanley Steemer Florence

Terrible, they wet my carpet so bad it soaked into my floors under thecarpet, took a long time to dry and they barely clean it, or sucked up the water. The attitude of one of them was horrible. I, Roy Lowrimore would never want them back, but they also did my Mom’s the same day and hers was just as bad. July 5th was the day they were to come at 12pm they called me after 12pm and still hadn,’t left florence sc. when they got here they barely stayed an hour to do my home,left the water hose loose, left trash in the yard. I want my carpet redone by someone else not that team, and so does my Moma, Sylvia Stone. Please report this to the florence stanley steamer we have called they said they would call back but we have not received any calls back, this needs to be made right.

They will not move anything and you have to move all the furniture and things for them. I was satisfied with the cleaning.

They came at a reasonable time and acted very professionally. One of the workers cleaned the upholstery on the couch, and 3 recliners, while the other one cleaned the carpet and area rug. As I have allergies and asthma, I went into my shop. When they were through cleaning I went back to the room to retrieve a pad they had forgotten. I noticed the carpet felt extremely wet and was told it would take up to 24 hours for it to dry. ( I was not told this beforehand ) I put large fans on the areas and the furniture started to dry.

After 6 hours I noticed the carpets were still soggy wet, so I used my personal carpet cleaner to see if I could help it dry quicker. I was mortified when I pulled 2 tanks of filthy, soapy water from a 12 X 14 area in the living room and 4X29 foot hallway.

I called the company and was told they would send the technician back to reclean the carpet. I refused the recleaning as it would just take longer to dry. I ask if they could just pull out the rest of the water and I would worry about the dirt still left in the carpet tomorrow. I needed to get back in my house. I do not want them to try to clean my carpet again.

I do not recommend this method of carpet cleaning to anyone. On a better note the furniture is drying and well cleaned.

The explanation

The guys were wonderful. They were very thorough, took their time and did a great job.  They were very friendly and personable as well, which was just an added bonus.  Will definitely use again.

*** I AM NOT SURE OF THE EXACT DATES OR THE ACTUAL COST OF CLEANING.*** I picked the rug up approx 30 days later. My friend picked her rug up at a separate time.   After unrolling my rug, it appeared not to have been cleaned and still had an odor.  I took the rug back to Stanley Steemer to be "recleaned" at no additional charge. I picked the rug up a few weeks later for a second time (90 miles round trip)  and it still was not clean.   Stanley Steemer was made aware of my dissatisfaction and their response was to bring the rug back.  At this point, I was tired of the "back & forth" and dropped the issue.   
My friend's rug was not cleaned either.  She did not return the rug to Stanley Steemer, but took it elsewhere to be cleaned.
***The same Stanley Steemer had previously cleaned 8 area rugs of all sizes for me a few months earlier and I had been pleased with their performance.  I don't know if they had new workers, new management, etc., but I will not use their services again.

First of all, let me say that the technicians did a very nice job cleaning the carpets.  I had significant stains from an older dog that we are having trouble controlling as he ages.  They were able to get all the stains removed, something that I did not expect.  So, as far as the carpet cleaning, I would have rated an A, but other parts of the experience weren't great.  Half way through the job, I was informed that my rooms were "oversized" and the the charge would essentially be $60.00 more than the online estimate of $92.00.  When I questioned the amount, I was told that there is fine print on the web site (where I made my reservation), indicating extra charges for oversized rooms. While they were cleaning, I went up and checked and indeed there is very small print saying any room above 250 sq feet would be additional.  I just basically didn't see it.  Nor, is there any place to estimate the room size as part of the scheduling process to get a true estimate (I ran through the estimating process online again to see if the new charge was what the website would also estimate).  So, the additional charge was surprising.  I questioned politely and the total amount was reduced from $152 to $132.  At this point I told them I would pay the charge.   When it came time to settle, it was obvious the technician was annoyed with me and while they were friendly when they first came to the door, it was a pretty cool attitude from that point on.  I gave a D on pricing because I've used local carpet cleaners in the past who have cleaned these same rooms for much less money.  With the additional charge to $132, that's much more than what I was paying before.  The reason I searched for a new carpet cleaner is the local guy I used to hire retired from his business.  I think they did a great job on the carpet, I would just make sure of the estimate and not rely on the online pricing.

They were great! First on the morning I called there had been a cancellation elsewhere so they were able to get to me at noon. They were punctual (they did not call - just came) and were very business like. They came in, assessed what I wanted cleaned and gave me a quote. They offered the deodorizing and when I accepted they went straight to work.  I had been painting so everything was in the middle of the room but they still moved furniture to get to the areas in the middle. The first room - the dining room was heavily soiled and they did a TERRIFIC job getting up the food stains and such. The next was the living room where much furniture was stacked they did a good job there as well and then the hallway.  Near the end one could tell that the soap was easing out but overall the job was very good.  I KNOW I will be back to them.

Exceptional job overall! I liked that he was interested in showing me the before and after affects on my dryer vent and other vent cleaning. He provided a detailed explination about everything he was doing and why he was using a certain type of equipment. James was detailed while ensuring everything he did was completely accurate and I was happy with each step. I watched everything.  

They did a great job. I was thoroughly satisfied with them. I had had ceramic tile put down, grouted in and the guys who put the tile down were supposed to have sealed the grout. They didn’t do it and the grout got really dirty, so I got Stanley Steemer come in and clean the grout. There were a couple of places they couldn’t do because I have got seven dogs and fourteen cats come in and out of the house. My wife has a rental house and we had them clean the upstairs carpet and stairwell and they did a great job on that, so that was why I called them back for the ceramic tile. They advertised a $99 special for cleaning the entire house. They didn’t charge me $99 but they charged me $368. They came out and gave me an estimate before I asked them to clean, so I agreed to $368. We would use them again in the future.

That was a good experience. Everything they did was fine the only thing was I asked a couple weeks ago to buy a rake and I wrote a check and I asked them to bring it to me and they never did. I think they forgot.

Their prices are great and they move all the furniture and they put it all back. They are just wonderful.

They were outstanding all the way and I didn't have any problem with them. I give them the highest ratings across the board.

The appointment was easily obtained online, using the Stanley Steemer website. We were surprised that the service was assigned to a Stanley Steemer franchise in Florence, SC; we had assumed the service would come from the Wilmington NC franchise which we had researched on Angie's List. Wilmington is 1 hour from our home: Florence is 2 hours away. Nevertheless, we went ahead with the appointment which was within 1 week of our requesting it. We received a call the day before the appointment giving us a one hour window of time that the technicians would arrive--they did arrive at the time stated, which was important to us. They performed the service efficiently and professionally and were done in 90 minutes. We were very satisfied with the results. Albeit minor, our only dissatisfaction was that the price estimate given online for cleaning our staircase did not include the landing at the top of the staircase and an additional $25 was added to the job when the technicians arrived. We cannot imagine a staircase without a landing and we think the estimate should have included that area or made it clear that the landing was extra.
