First quote came from a contractor who was doing other work for me at the time. His quote was very close to the one provided by my insurance carrier. Quote was to replace roof with 25 year shingles as was on the house. We decided to upgrade to lifetime shingles with a higher wind rating. We found what we wanted and contacted Shaw Lumber for a price. Shaw's price was only $2,000 more than the contractor even though cost of the shingles selected were nearly double the 25 year price. We also contacted a local big box home store and had to pay for a quote. They were $3000 dollars higher than Shaw's. This is the second experience we had with Shaw where they beat a private contractor and a big box store chain.
