We've been using them for 20 plus years. Robbie Hewitt is the owner and Lansing Yarborough is a new doctor. Very easy to get an appointment and response in an emergency and we've been very satisfied. Dr. Hewitt is very knowledgeable with experience with surgical procedures. Dr. Yarborough is following in his footsteps.

It is reasonable and I cannot remember. We had a rescue dog that almost killed one of the other dogs. She just went the old spaniel rage I guess. . was a mess. I took that dog over and they fixed that dog up so well. They explained things. When you watch them handled the dogs you know they really care. I would say they are fair with the other competition. The only thing about them is that they are not open on the weekends and we had a dog crisis where it ate poison and we had to take it all the way to Columbia. When you go in, they are all backed up. They try to handle everybody. The head doctor, Dr. Hewitt even if he is not the vet working on your dog he will stop in the room and say hi to you and ask how are things going.

An older pet that could no longer get around was in a good deal of pain and had to be put to sleep. All of the staff were as caring as any I have ever met. A top quality veterinarian service center. Highly recommend them.

I had a bad experience with Hewitt Animal Hospital. I moved here with two dogs and I only have one now. My sheltie mix had a simple break in her leg. I wasn't even going to take her to the vet, because it's was one of those bones that they can't really do anything. She was running a temperature but they ended up giving her all her regular shots that were due. But they didn't do anything about the leg. I told them it shouldn't be safe to give her all shots when she had a temperature but they said it was okay. They clipped her nails, too. Days later, her leg swelled up like a balloon. I don't think they take good care of the place in cleanliness. They're definitely not honest. Her legs swelled up and started getting holes in it. They just kept wrapping it and they were saying they were doing all these tests. We didn't have money and they said they'd work with me. They're ringing up the bill. It ended up being the dog version of MRSA and that they had no other dog there with it. When I went back, someone else who worked there said they had three other dogs with it. They tried to tell me she caught it while we were moving there, but my other dog didn't catch it and he's 11 years old. When I brought her in with her oozing leg, they didn't quarantine her or anything, if it's supposed to be that contagious. They gave me wrong directions and nothing made sense. The vet said she couldn't deal with me because I was so emotional, so my friend spoke to her instead. I was getting pushed back and forth. My pets are my family and a vet should understand that. They jerked me around while she suffered until I had to put her down. I found out she didn't even do the tests and other things she said she did. All I wanted was an honest answer. I'm running back and forth every day to make sure her bandages were changed and her bones in her leg were just deteriorating. If I had never brought her there at all, I'd probably still have her. I'm sure she got it there. I watched them and you come in and put your pet on the table and nobody wipes anything off there. They charged me over $650.00 and wanted to charge me another $350.00 to cut her leg off to keep the bills going. I had to put her down. I'm not happy at all with them. I still owe them money but as far as I'm concerned, they can come after me if they want.

All the vet's at Hewitt Animal Hospital are wonderful! They have gone out of there way to see my dogs whenever there is a problem and Dr. Hewitt even met me one evening after a snake bite incident with our sweet Pippy.
Other times, they have helped treat my Bassets after back surgery, during cancer treatments for Lymphoma, for well visits, for dental cleanings, for stomach ailments, etc. I trust them 100%

I would recommend them to anyone looking for a veterinary facility. When I had to take the cat back for a regular check, they did a drive-by because I had the cat in my car and they came out to the car and did it. The service was good.

Dr. Hewitt and Dr. Lewis are wonderful vets. We have had nothing but good experience with these doctors and have been using them since 2006 when we moved here. We have 4 Basset Hounds, had 5 but lost one this year to cancer, and have used Hewitt Animal hospital for regular health visits, problems and emergencies.

- Dr. Hewitt met us one evening after a poisonous snake bite to Pippy
- Dr. Hewitt identified a back problem with Scooby and immediately sent us to SC Veterinary Specialist in Columbia for surgery. This was a time important diagnosis as things could have gotten much worse.
- Dr. Hewitt has worked with another of our Bassets, JJ, who had a heart problem and could not be sedated for teeth cleaning. He took the time to clean his teeth while he was awake and was very patient with him.
These vets really go the extra mile when caring for your animals.
