We liked Mike from the first moment we met him. We asked a lot of questions and he was able to answer all without hesitation. I needed to prod him a little bit to have him call me back with my estimate, but he was only a couple of days outside when he expected to get back with me. The work was not started on the date expected, however, he was upfront and called to let me know. His estimate came in under the others and his work was excellent. I look forward to working with Mike on future projects.

We obtained several bids for this job and chose Mike because he seemed the most knowledgable, honest, personable and the ratings for his company were positive. Boy were we fooled. He told us the project would take a week to complete and that they work 8am-5pm with an hour break for lunch. The project took 3 weeks, they were never here before 11am any day, and some days they just didnt show up or bother to call. He also told us he gets his lumber from a lumber yard, then let it slip halfway through the project that the lumber was coming from Lowes. The old deck lumber, footings, railings, etc. sat in our yard for the entire project length (3 weeks) because Mike told us his trailer broke and he kept saying he was going to rent one but that didnt happen. We asked for lighting options and prices which he kept promising he would get but never did. On the day they wanted to finish the project (Friday 11/1/13) they ran out of the aluminum balusters we wanted used and put in wood ones in order to get the permit signed off by the inspector. We agreed that was okay as long as they came back to change out the wood balusters for aluminum so all balusters would match. When pouring the footings they splattered cement all over our vinyl siding; which Mike promised he'd come back to clean off. Mike told me he'd call me Sunday 11/3/13 to schedule time to come out early in the week with the lighting options; change out the balusters; clean off the siding and install a pergola. Of course he did not call. Throughout the 3 week project we heard so many excuses it was laughable - Mike told us they were tied up finishing other jobs; his truck had flat tires or was broken down several times, the trailer broke and he couldnt get ahold of the guy to fix it, his dog ran away and then was found, and on and on. It was a LOUSY experience and unfortunately we learned the hard way not to be so trusting.

From my perspective Mike and his crew did an excellent job. They were prompt and on time with very reasonable estimates and held to the agreement yet were accommodating with change orders we requested like the carpet and wiring tunnel. They were on time with completion and put in the extra effort when it was needed. I would definitely recommend Mike and use him again for any other projects.

While the timing was tricky, as he was busy with other projects at the same time and we were in a time crunch as well, overall the project went smoothly. I would have liked it completed quicker but the end result was well worth having someone who knew what they were doing.

I had a scale drawing of the kitchen I wanted. I contacted several contractors for bids. Mike was the easiest to talk to and had the most reasonable price. Because this is an old house, built in 1950, I knew that there would be unforeseen complications. Once the demolition starts there are always surprises.
The kitchen was stripped to the studs. The plumbing, electrical, drywall and floor were all replaced. I have hardwood floors all over the house and wanted the floors in the kitchen to match the floors in the family room that we opened to the kitchen. To get the floors to match he did a finish in place floor. If you did not know the floor was new and added you cannot tell it from the old one. Of course when the floor began the sub-floor and some structural adjustments had to be made. The additional up charge was very reasonable.
All of the cabinets were replaced using Ikea cabinets. Mike had never worked with these before but did a great job of installing and fitting the cabinets to the space. He also makes cabinets, had I known the quality of his work I would have considered having him make the cabinets. The counter tops are a combination of butcher block and granite. He installed both and measured for the granite. The back splash is subway tile. The tile job is neat and clean and beautiful.
He installed all of the appliances and lighting and faucets. Everything works, looks wonderful and does not leak.
erAll of his subcontractors that he used were appropriate and competent. He supervised their work. I did not feel the need to stand over them and check the work as I have had to do in the past with other contractors. He had an excellent worker named Norman who was also talented and a pleasure to have in my home. Between the two of them, Mike and Norman they were very good problem solvers.
I have one more bathroom to update and when I am ready I definitely will call M D Hudson builders.

Mike worked very quickly to get the job done. We are having Mike come out this week and change all the windows in the rest of the house.

Went very well. Best thing we ever did to the house. Michael recommended the work after pointing out rotten areas that I had not noticed. Looks great!

Results were great. Can't find a harder worker. Punctuality is an issue. Deal with it up front and you shouldn't have a problem. Michael is a very gifted carpenter and he can do most anything that pops up you want done. He also repaired cracks in drywall after I had foundation work done. Not the easy way, no tape, he replaced sections, sanded and painted. It looks great.
