This is the worst experience we've ever had with a contractor. The work began by Mikey on January 5th to inspect and repair existing plumbing in a 10x7 bathroom. The work went on for several days with little noticeable progress. We would ask how much longer and get the same reply, " just one or two more hours should do it." Ten days and 18.5 hours later this work was complete. This is an investment house for us and we were not there many of the times he worked in the evening, so we can't prove if he was there or not. When Mikey called for rough-in inspection, we thought the ordeal was over. But the inspector required a pressure test, and the line failed. (This was no fault of Southern Pride; it was a pre existing condition) Mikey quickly found three holes in the waste line's main stack on the first floor, just above where he had installed a tee cleanout for the pressure test. While replacing the main stack, it was pushed too far up, creating a backflow on the second story waste line. This was brought to Mikey's attention, and he texted "I put it back where it was." Another leak was found by Mikey in the pipes on the second floor that he had been working on. Fixing those leaks took him an additional 17.25 hours. With a total of $600.00 extra in parts.
On January 19th, by the time the rough-in had been completed, Mikey texted us he was "stopping a labor at 1500 to give you a [break] on a few hours and we have to add 300 for parts...to the total is 1800ish." On January 28th, he text that he did "have all the parts on the truck it should only take a couple hours over the original labor hours."
Once the work was finally completed on March 12th, we heard absolutely nothing from Southern Pride Plumbing until a phone call on July 15th, more than four months later. We requested an itemized bill; upon receipt, we wrote requesting clarification of one item. We didn't receive the explanation, but rather a certified demand letter threatening legal action. We sent a certified letter disputing the bill, but the company refused to accept the letter. We have left several voice mail messages but none have been returned.
