Great. They worked with us and let us share the slab with another customer so we did not have to buy the entire slab.

Perplexing response from these guys.  I went out to inspect the marble slab they were to use.  I expressed concern about fissures in the stone.  Without much further contact or information, the stone was installed.  We were disappointed with the installation and the exposed fissures (concerns expressed earlier).  In addition, the end of the tub surround functions as a shower bench and was not sloped appropriately to drain (standard practice).  After requesting some kind of response or explanation, the owner came back with threats of taking the case to the magistrate.  That was his opening response to our request.  Litigation as a first response.  We backed down.  The installation wasn't egregiously bad, but to respond with litigation threats!  No consideration whatsoever.  Very perplexing.

Micalline has been in business for 40 years, but actually fabricating natural stone is a more recent endeavor.  The inexperience showed in their work.  I purchased an exotic granite countertop from Micalline, and when my countertop was delivered, it had 2 chips in the surface.  The largest chip was about the size of a quarter where mica was in the stone, and Micalline needed two trips to do a repair that still does not blend in with the surrounding surface.  I consulted a Granite Specialist, and was told that the smaller chip could not be repaired after the stone was installed in my home, as it should have been hot-epoxied before the countertop left the shop.  The backsplash and sink cut-out edges were not color-sealed properly, leaving those pieces whiter so they do not match the darker tone of the vanity surface.  The right sink was not centered properly at installation, off by about ½”, and its repair would cost $250 + plumber charge. When committing to the purchase of the countertop, I paid half up front.  Before paying the remaining balance, I repeatedly asked Bruce Williams (one of the owners) to repair the small chip (before I found out it cannot be repaired after installation).  He said he would come fix it after I paid him, and I said I would pay him after he came and fixed the chip.  I initially put him on notice September 8, and he responded with an e-mail that he would turn the matter over to the magistrate.  When you are dissatisfied with his work, he sues because he knows that a case cannot be logged with the Department of Consumer Affairs (BBB) once legal action is filed.  Micalline produced inferior workmanship, and would not stand behind their product.  To see this company’s history with other customers (they filed seven civil suits & are the defendant in three others from September 2010 to January 2012), do a Public Index Search on Micalline at the  Richland County Fifth Judicial Circuit Public Index Search at the South Carolina Judicial Department website.

Chose Micalline Products, Inc  because they were recommended by my cabinet maker and they had the equipment  to electronically map  the counters and cut  granite precisely!

Granite looked good after installation until you looked at it closely. One counter has a kicked out section in  the middle and  the granite top was 3/4 of an inch off center.  So much for the precise cutting.

When the installation  crew returned to correct, I left and I was not at  home while they did the repair.  When I returned that night the counter was centered, however two cabinet doors were damaged and a new Wolf  rangetop was damaged. It looked like they had used the Wolf rangetop for a work bench while working on the other countertop.  I  called Steve Hinson with Hinson Cabinets as he was the cabinet  person and Micalline was working for  him.  Steve stated that  Micalline  said " they did not damage the range and the cabinet doors"  however,  Steve Hinson  said  "he  knew that they did damage the cabinet  doors and that  I would need to talk to Bruce with Micalline on the rangetop".  Bruce would not take responsibility for the damage to the rangetop so  I had to repair it myself.

I used two other granite suppliers finishing the renovation with NO problems.  Equipment is not a substitute for craftmanship!

Kitchen is not that big but we did add an upgraded edge which added to the overall cost.  They informed us from the start that they do not re-attach plumbing (kitchen sink) and suggested hiring a professional for that job.  We were able to do the work ourselves without a problem.  They did cut one piece of the backsplash wrong so they came back with a new piece from the factory to install and did that rather quickly (within a few days).  Overall the experience was good and I would recommend them.

I went in and picked out my slab. That same day they called back and said they had made a mistake and that slab had already been taken and just not tagged so I had to go back in. I only mention this since I was impressed that they just were honest with me and didn't give me a song and dance or make a substitution themselves. I gave them my approximate measurements and then picked out my new slab and they told me they would call me to set up my actual measure. They called as promised and came out and completed the meaure very quickly. After I received my quote I paid and told them to go ahead and they gave me a leadtime of two weeks. I thought to my self that's not going to happen. Maybe 8 weeks but not 2 weeks! Since I still needed to paint my cabinets I thought I had all the time in the world. Exactly 1 week later to the day they called and said they were ready to be installed! I couldn't believe it! We made a date for the install and three very nice polite, respectful young men came out and installed them. The countertops look great. This company was truly a real pleasure to deal with. Everyone I spoke with was wonderful. At different times I spoke with the owner, inside sales, sales/measurers and installers. One other thing I wanted to say is that I have a small kitchen and many companies won't do small orders (including the one I work for) Micalline will do just a bathroom sink if that's all you need. They will be getting my business for my bathroom and any other granite jobs I do.
