Animal Grooming
Had my dog groomed by Felicia, at Irmo Pet Retreat, who has long experience with grooming. Clean facility. Price was fair. Pleased with the outcome.

The people were very nice, the facilities were nice. Our dog's stuff smelled really bad when we picked him up. Like they were sitting in a pool of pee. It took many washings to get it out, one toy had to be thrown away.

"We kept Clay for 5 nights when he was 4 months old - the charge was $100.00. We inspect every room at least 4 times throughout the day when we let our guests out to play. Soiled bedding is washed and returned as needed. The only time soiled toys or bedding are returned to the customer on check out is if it is freshly soiled and we do not have time to clean it before check out. We do not let belongings or pets sit in waste - we pride ourselves in our cleanliness and I am sorry this occurred."

Kay and team are awesome when it comes to caring for our pup. They treat him as if he was their own and we can't say enough good things about them. We have a rescue pup so we wanted the very best care for him since we had to board him and we were more than pleased. He actually gets really excited to visit!

Grooming services are excellent and dogs seem to enjoy going there. Same with boarding, although it can be difficult to get in around major holidays when a lot of people travel, so reservations well in advance are a good idea. I believe there are a lot of good groomers in the area, but once we started going here, I never thought to switch. I would recommend their services.

They were just wonderful and took really good care of her. The floors are rather on top of concrete so it was like the floor was cushioned for dogs that were going to be in the kennel for a while. They did not look like a jail cell because they had put clear to sight doors. The beds were raised hammock type beds. If the dogs have joint problems then it is a pretty neat place. They are nice people and love the pets. Their prices are very reasonable. I was shopping around to see where I wanted to take her because she is really spoilt; whatever the price was I would have been okay. My dog cries when I leave her so they informed me that I could call anytime and someone would answer the call informing me what exactly is happening; it is very comforting.

We have used Irmo Pet Retreat many times, and on every single occassion, the staff has been accomodating and friendly not only to our dogs but to us as well. It is a very clean and inviting kennel and they allow us to bring our dogs' pet pillows and toys and even walk them back to see where they will be staying while we are out of town. It is also so reasonably priced for such excellent accommodations. If there was an A++ rating I would give them just that! Thank you, Kaye and Irmo Pet Retreat!

Doors were locked! When I called, no one answered, I left a message, it is now 4:30 and I have yet to hear from someone. No good!

"Our facility does not have "traditional" business hours. Our hours are listed on our website, our answering machine and on our front door. We are open 363 days a year for two legged customers. We do not have open hours for the public on Thanksgiving day or Christmas day. We are here by 7:30am until at least 9:00pm, every day, but we do not staff for two-legged customers during our closed hours. Our business hours for the public are Mon-Fri 8am-12noon and 3:30pm-6:30pm, Sat 10am-4pm and Sun 3pm-6pm. During our closed hours, we are tending to our guests and calls may not be answered, but are returned. I did receive a message from someone who left a first name and a phone number and questioned why we were not open during business hours. I returned the call within two hours and received a recording that the number had been disconnected. Cell phone usage today is widespread and there are occasions when messages, names and numbers can not be understood when left on an answering machine. As a small business owner, I always strive to provide excellent customer service and I have no motivation to avoid potential new clients. We try to answer the phone when we can and return calls as promptly as possible."

enjoyed the experience. They were very open with their facilities, showing me exactly where she would be staying and answering any questions that I had. When I picked her up, she was in mint condition - didn't seem overly stressed out and seemed to enjoy her time there. Will use again.

They gave my dog a lot of attention and took her out many times.
Rooms are very large; everything I took with her was given back. I've had to ask other kennels for her things back. I think she had a great time and I will definitely use them again.

From the moment we checked out the facilities to ensure we would like them, we loved the place. It is not your normal kennel cage, but instead like a little room. And the floors are not concrete, but rubber. The dog runs were very nice and clean as well. They also have a "play room" out front in case it is raining so the dogs can still get out and play. All the workers and owner were extremely nice and very caring. It also didn't have that "animal" smell to the place when you come in the front door. This is a very unique place. I am definitely bringing the babies here every time!!

I found Irmo Pet Retreats through a Groupon. I had been unhappy with my previous kennel and was looking for some place new. I called about two weeks before, gave all of the information about my dog and made him a reservation. I spoke to the woman who I believe is the owner. She was very friendly and helpful throughout.
On the day of my trip I arrived about noon. Everything was clean and sparkling, with no strong odors even of cleaning products. The owner, who checked us in, said that she couldn't find my reservation (which was a bit annoying) but she was able to take my dog anyway with no hassle. I was very impressed that when the time came for my dog to go back to the kennel area, they invited me back to see where he would be staying. Again, everything was clean and odor free. I left feeling that my dog would be well taken care of by people who genuinely care about animals.
I was pleased that Irmo Pet Retreat had hours all day on Sunday, which many of the other borders I have used or considered do not. To me, not only was this more convenient but also means that someone is there actually caring for my dog. When I arrived around 3 pm they recognized me right away and knew the name of my dog. They had his things ready and waiting for me and brought him out immediately. They let me know that he had eaten regularly and had done well. I will definitely take me dog back.
