My initial impression of Ducksback was very good. I called the office asking for an estimate and within a few hours received a call back from Matt Loving. We arranged a time to meet and reviewed the project. Unfortunately, it was pouring rain when we met, but he showed up and we talked about the project. He got the required information and passed it to the owner to complete the estimate. I received the estimate in email and via US mail early the next week. I subsequently called the owner and discussed the scope of the work. I mentioned to him that I wanted them to do the work, but my request to have the and quot;street printand quot; option in the quote was missed. Jim Talbert, the owner noted that the printing could not be done at the time of paving and he agreed to provide me a separate quote. When I awarded the job, I asked to be informed ahead of time when the work would begin. He said they were scheduling work about two weeks out and he would let me know when they could provide a more definitive time frame.
Imagine my surprise when two weeks later, I sent an inquiry email asking when the work would start and found out that the concrete work for the drain had already completed. (I should note that this work was done on a 2nd home and I am typically not there during the week). On investigation of the work, completed, I identifed two problems that were difficult if not impossible to easily remedy. The drain was not deep enough to avoid direct contact with the wood bandboards on my house and most significantly, the drain was not taken to the outer corners of the house as I had asked. I met with the owner subsequently, and knowing that there was no easy solution told him to proceed with the paving and other work. That was all completed on the same day.
In terms of quality of work, I would say average because during the paving process, they cracked and chipped the concrete drain they had installed. In addition quite a few stones I had lining the driveway were disturbed and not replaced. The proposal for the street print option was provided as part of the invoice for the paving work. I paid for the paving work and have tried on three occassions to set a time to review with Ducksback the options and get the work scheduled. I have received no response to my emails or phone calls.
My impression of Ducksback is one of some disappointment. I believe overall they are a good company, but their business seems to be more focused on small commercial projects than residential. Throughout the process, I felt as if I was being squeezed in around their and quot;realand quot; work. At this writing, I do not know if I will get the street printing done on the driveway or not since I have not been able to make new contact.

I got them from Angie's List. They were punctual and followed up on phone calls. They did the job on time.

They were outstanding. They were so professional; I just can't tell you enough about them. We had somebody else that was a lot more in price. I would recommend them.

Drained water, leveled the parking lot, scraped off the existing crush and run, added enforcement where needed, poured asphalt, striped parking lot. We had a utility wire in the ground that thty had to work around and it was flawless.

Good result. My old driveway was getting into very rough shape and I had several low spots that allowed deep puddles to form every time it rained. Ducksback dug up the old asphalt and tree roots in areas where the driveway was broken up by adjacent trees. During the repaving process they were careful to add enough asphalt to create a good slope for drainage. I also had them extend the driveway in a side yard next to my garage. I got several estimates for the work and Ducksback's price was in the middle. They provided several references. The job was done very professionally. They have all the heavy equipment necessary for excavation, paving, and rolling asphalt. The workers were nice and did a neat job. I am glad I stayed home the day the work was done. I had to point out an area that needed to be built up to prevent a low area next to my side door. They took care of it right away and I have been very pleased with the result.
