Dan Evans Fencing

Dan was very prompt in scheduling the appointment to give an estimate.  He really wanted the work and offered a discount if he could go ahead and get started.  He was very fast.  The only criticism I have is that he didn't sink the fence posts very deep and used a 4x4 post for a gate post so the fence is a little wobbly and the gate already sags a bit.  The biggest issue is that we agreed to a "dog-eared" picket and he set the top rail in line with the top of the pickets rather than a few inches below as most fences are so you cannot see the dog-eared top of the pickets.  I was not able to see the pickets clearly in the pictures he sent (I do not live in the house where he was doing the fence).  When I did see them, the job was finished and I had already paid him.  In fairness, I did not demand that he re do the fence, because there would be no way to do it without taking the fence completely apart.  My issue is that he is the fence guy and I should not have to be the one to also say, "oh, by the way, be sure the dog eared pickets show."

IS FALSE. WE FOUND OUT OUR FENCE HAD NO PERMIT WHEN THE ZONING PEOPLE
SENT US A VERY LOVELY LETTER THREATENING TO FINE US 400$ A DAY. WHEN WE
TRIED TO CONTACT DAN, WE DISCOVERED HE HAD TOTALLY GONE OFF GRID.

Also. He was chronically late, didn't communicate with us, and took twice as long to do the project.

We needed a wood fence for our new puppy and called 3 companies for estimates. All of the offers were in the same range but Dan was the only one who took time to ask us what we were trying to accomplish and to suggest a slightly different layout that wound up being better than what we planned. He also mentioned that he would hand cut each board and be on site for the entire job. The others both stated that they used pre-assembled panels on their fences and we weren't sure that the dog couldn't squeeze through the pickets. Dan was able to custom cut and nail the pickets so that was not an issue.
 Dan and his crew came out during the coldest week in South Carolina history and worked through the weather to build a beautiful fence that exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend him to anyone wishing to install any type of fence. I will not be surprised if he gets more work in my neighborhood as a result of his work.

The owner & helper arrived a little after the scheduled appointment time on both work days. They were the lowest price of the quotes. they quickly removed old & installed new fencing. They could have cleaned up more giblets of concrete around posts.

He was very responsive to my phone call, request and price quote. He used quality materials and his price was very reasonable. Without a doubt, I would use him again and recommend him to friends for their chain link fencing needs!

Experience went very well.  Outdoor contractors were significantly behind because of excessive rainfall in the Columbia , SC area.  We could not leave on vacation because of liability issues with our swimming pool until the fence was completed.  In order to allow us to meet the dates for our only vacation this summer, Dan Evans fencing made a herculean effort to finish the fence so that we could go.  Yet the fence was put in professionally and in every way met our expectations.  The Evans family were fine people to work with and we would recommend them highly to anyone needing a beautiful, quality fence for a very competitive price.
