Cut M Up Lawn is a great company. I have been using them for 3 months and will continue. They are a very good company and appear to enjoy their job. I highly recommend them for anyone looking for a lawn service company. You can not go wrong!

Once the contract was signed, I informed Ernest that I was ready to get on his schedule before the busy season started. He showed up the next day (without notice) and began working on cutting up the old sod for removal. I appreciate the promptness but would have preferred to know he was coming. I could have moved heavy items (grill) out of his way and, most importantly, made sure that my dog (very protective) was secured in the house. That could have been a dangerous situation for his crew and a lawsuit for me.
The work went well and within a week I had a fully sodded front and back yard. Looks really great - even dormant!
I was at work when Ernest and his crew finished up on Friday so I didn't get a chance to speak with him. He called me that evening and asked if he could pick up his check on Saturday. When stroking the check I realized that there was no paperwork or instructions for me on how to care for the sod. I placed the check and my request for care instructions in an envelope for him to pick up on Saturday since I would not be home when he stopped by. To this day I have had to research the internet to determine how to care for the sod. That was very poor customer service. When I turned on the sprinkler system less than a week later, two sprinkler heads were broken. One was completely detached and broken from the connection. I would have expected that the sprinkler system was checked before he left the property.
Ernest is a very nice fellow but has very lousy post-service customer support which is why I rated his professionalism as low as I could.

We hired Ernest Gooden the owner of Cut M Up Landscape
for the following services:
Installed 12 zone automatic Rain-Bird commercial
irrigation system (2 year warranty) -
material and labor $9,750.00
Installed 45 pallets of Empire Zoysia rolls ? material
and labor $5,200.00
Installed 3 Maple Trees, 3 Crate Myrtles, 5 (5) gal
Nellie Stevens Hollys, 39 (7) gal hedges, 69 (3) gal shrubs & 27 (3) gal
Burdordi Hollys ? materials and labor $4,000.00
Installed 100 bales of pine straw $550.00
Installed 22 tons fill dirt - $450.00
Total paid to owner Ernest Gooden $19,950.00
Contract finalized Oct 4, 2011, a few days later he
received his required down payment of $4,950.00 from the builder. On 10/29, he
received $10,000 payment from us as required once the irrigation & sod was
installed. On 11/5, he received final payment of $5,000 from us, which included
trees, hedges, shrubs, & dirt. He was contracted by us and not the builder.
The earliest email I could find notifying Ernest Gooden
of issues was Mar 24, 2012. He met with us to discuss the browning/dying of the
saga palms, hedges, holes, dips & uneven areas throughout yard, irrigation
zone not coming on and replacing sprinkler heads. Short time later he did bring
dirt to build up the uneven areas. He said he would have to come back to re-
wire zone 5 because it would require him to dig up our yard. A head was replaced near the gate opening.
There is a flooding problem in front of the garage which was killing the
hedges. He stated he would come back to
move the hedges from the garage area & replant them in the back yard next
to the wood fence. Sent him an email on
6/18, in reference to coming back and received no response. Sent a text on
6/25, in reference to the same. He responded same day stating he will be
working in North Carolina all week. Sent him another text 7/27. He responded on
7/30, stating he would call me in a few. Also, ask I bare with him because he
has a close family member real sick and traveling back & forth to
Florida. He text me on 8/21, stating
he?s slowly getting back in the grove and lost a lot of business and he would
call me soon. He never called. On 9/29,
we discovered a water leak in the yard. I text him to locate the irrigation main
water valve so we could turn it off. Explained we had turned off the main water
valve, but the red triangle indicator was still turning indicating a water leak
with the irrigation system. I asked if he could come by to fix the problem. He
responded by ?K I will?. Have not heard from him since.
The Nellie Stevens Holly tree and the 5 hedges died. We had to contact other companies to re-wire
zone 5 and find & fix the leaks. On 5/14/13, we hired The Yard Spa to fix
the first leak we found $75.00. They replaced the cylinder zone 10. The red
triangle indicator was still moving confirming we still had another leak. On
6/28/13, we hired Heads-Up Irrigation to re-wire zone 5 $156.00. Shortly
afterwards we found the other leak. On 8/12/13, we hired Heads- Up Irrigation
$140 to fix the 2nd leak. They replaced
2 valves zone 8 & 9. Have video of the leaking valve once they dug around
it. We found the leaks due to the areas being saturated. We replanted 5 hedges
and Pencil tree ourselves. Ernest Gooden owes us for the following:
Nellie Stevens Holly tree - $85 (this is what he charged
us)
5 hedges $45 each - $225 (this is what he charged us)
I have receipts from both landscape companies who fixed
the leaks and zone 5. Total cost $371.00
Total cost Ernest Gooden owes us $681.00
He states on his website he is a member of The South
Caroline Nursery and Landscape Association. I have an email confirming he has
not been a member since January 27, 2010. Too bad I didn?t check this before we
hired him.
I have texts, emails and videos outlining the accounts.
