Calhoun Painting & Handyman Services

Initially, it seemed like everything was going to go smoothly. I paid the deposit in January, and Mr. Calhoun purchased the materials to install the wood laminate flooring. His team (him and another gentleman) began working, and very quickly, the work began to fall off. It took about 5 months to finish the downstairs flooring. I had to pay Mr. Calhoun additional money to purchase the carpet and materials for the upstairs carpet installation. He never started it. After 10 months of back and forth, I had to hire someone else to finish the job.

The guys were really friendly and punctual. Mr Calhoun stated that he might have to charge a traveling fee because we were so far out, I said I explained that to him yesterday and text the address so that he could see where we were but he brought that up while already here. One of the guys stayed behind to work on the fan and bathroom. The fan is great, it took 2ish hours to do, we fed him lunch and I gave him some cigs because he left them in the truck, that was with the rest of the crew. The man is a diabetic, but was left here with no food or cigs, which is a big deal to a smoker. He was super friendly. My partner had to take him to the store to get switches, although Mr Calhoun said he would be bringing them with him, and then had to take him back to Columbia to meet up with his crew. He came for 2 jobs, was only able to complete one job. I understand paying for time, I work on appointments and my time is what people pay for. However, if I am not able to do the job with the desired outcome or to completion, I do not charge the same price as I would for completed work. I called someone to do a job, that I did not have friends do for free, because I wanted to NOT be responsible for store runs and food and cigs. He was here all day, 1 job completed, no receipt, especially no itemized receipt to know what it was we paid $230 for. I am not satisfied.

wonderfully! I called several other folks on Angie's list and no one was working the week of Christmas. Lucky for me, Mr. Calhoun was available and came right over. Mr. Calhoun and his team worked efficiently, were friendly and respectful of me and my home. Basically, I showed them the problem (hole in the ceiling) and within 2 hours, it was if there had never been a hole or foot-long crack. They vacuumed and tidied up - again, it was as if nothing had ever happened. Will definitely hire them again and in fact have already recommended them to another friend. Thanks for a job well done!

He's very concerned about being sure we were happy with his work. He was also very agreeable in working around our schedule. We had floor people coming in & he was happy to stop work until the floors were finished.
