I backed up into my garage door earlier in the week and gave it a pretty good bump. A few days later, it came off the tracks and I was unable to get it working again after several hours of working on it. I finally gave up and called Bilt Rite first thing on Friday morning. They said they would have someone call me back to schedule an appointment and told me that it would probably be Monday before they could get to it. After lunch no one had called, so I called back and spoke directly with the scheduler, who had not gotten the message. However, she was still able to work me in to the schedule for Monday, from 3-5pm. She said it could possibly even be after 5 as it would be the last call of the day. However, she called back about 2 hours later and told me that she had managed to move the call between 2-4pm, which was good. I asked if the repairman could call me about 30 minutes in advance so I could make it home from work to meet him and she said that he would.
At 2pm Monday I got a call from the repairman. He told me he was on the way and would be arriving at 2:30. At 2:30 sharp he was at my front door. He surveyed the damage, told me that the problem was one of the cables was off track and that the charge would be $80 including the $35 service call fee, and he could do the work right away. I told him I had a coupon for a free service call, so the total charge was $45. He was done in about 20 minutes. He even lubricated all the springs and rollers, and now my garage door is working better (and quieter) than ever.
I'm very impressed by Bilt Rite and would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to anyone who needs garage door repairs!
The guy came out and said that I needed a new garage door opener. My opener wasn't working and that is why the garage door wouldn't open. Simple enough. I was irritated that I had to wait for almost a week for them to be able to fix it, since the door was very, very hard to push up and would slam down (the sales guy noticed this as well). I have young children and didn't like that idea. Another guy, the installer, came out and replaced the opener, and the door would still not open. The installer realized that I had a snapped spring on the door. That was the original and only problem. I was sold a garage door opener that I didn't need, then they wanted another $280 to fix the spring. I found someone else to put the spring in for $125. When Biltmore called me back to set up an appointment to fix the spring, I told them that I found someone else. The man on the phone was very threatening and told me that the warranty on the garage door would be voided if I got someone else to do the work. I said that the work would be done to the door. He said it did not matter. Then he started backpedaling and saying that he would do it for $200. I said no and he hung up on me. I feel that they took complete advantage of me, and instead of apologizing for diagnosing my problem incorrectly, they tried to threaten me into spending more. Horrible, horrible experience. Please do not use this company.
