Nov 14, 2016. Contacted WainGreen. We agreed he would come to my house to see the space where the table would be on Nov 23rd. No call, No show until almost 8 that night asking if we could reschedule for Friday or Saturday. I responded with it would have to be Friday. Sent message Friday morning… NO call, no show on Friday. Received message on Saturday asking if I could come to his shop or he could come to the house that day. I responded that weekends would not work for me but I sent a pic of what I kinda was thinking. I met him on Sunday (Nov 27th) even though I had worked midnight shift. He was polite and drew up some sketches of what he was thinking. I gave him a deposit check then and offered to let him take my old kitchen table then since he would be using that wood for the bread board extensions. He declined so that I would still have the table to use. Sent an email FEB 23 saying that we could go ahead with plans and that he could come out and pick up my old table to use for the bread board extensions. I sent message on March 3rd saying that I was really questioning using pine for the top. Too soft and too "knotty". Asked his opinion. Was told I had several other options. He came back to my house to get my old table on March 15th and sent picture of other options for the top of the table on March 20th. I went to his shop on March 23rd to get a closer look at the wood. AFTER I got there he then said that the oak I picked out would need to dry longer and that he might not be able to use it right away. I said I was ok with waiting to be able to get what I wanted. From that point on I was given grief about everything from the wood that I picked out to the finish I wanted. Stephen complained SEVERAL times about having to spend the time and money to come to my house but yet he has no where to meet with clients except for his "workshop". I wanted to make sure that what he built would fit in my space… so he needed to see it and measure it….First visit. Second visit…. came to pick up my old table that I offered to let him take the first time he was here. Third visit…delivered table on MAY 25th. I had sent him a message making sure he would have help moving the table into the house (I am handicapped). Showed up by himself and actually had the audacity to ask me to help him carry said table. Thank goodness one of my male neighbors was outside and I recruited him to help. May 26th… called Stephen with concern that the bases on the table are too close together to fit anything bigger than 2 16" wide chairs (and that is skinny) side by side. I sent him several pictures and asked if the base feet could be trimmed just a touch on each side to allow for a little bit of a wider chair. He asked for MORE pictures. I sent MORE picture with sketches of what I thought could be done and said I would think about having him build benches that would fit in the space. Sent him text on June 3rd asking about just trimming the width of the feet bases vs. building benches. He finally texted back on June 9th saying that he would like to come out and see exactly what the problem is and that we could trim the foot if need be one day "next week". I texted him back with my availability. Heard NOTHING from him until I texted him again on JULY 18th. FINALLY showed up an hour late today (July 20th) and gave me attitude from the moment he walked in the door ******** about everything from the wood that I "made" him use to the 4 trips that he had to make to my house. I didn't know that driving for 15 miles/30 minutes for customer service was such a trouble. The top of the table is starting to warp and he blamed that on me and the wood I picked out. Not on the fact that he didn't let it cure long enough! And he basically just moved chairs around my kitchen and griped until I was sick of hearing it and tried to remind him that I was the customer. He continued to moan and groan. This visit ended with me telling him to leave my house. All in all… I would have been better off ordering a reclaimed table from Restoration Hardware. They stand behind their products and they are better made. (for the same price!!)
