"[Member Name Removed], Thank you so much for your response and rating. We look forward to helping you anytime you need us. Thank you, Richard"
I own a company and we brought our trucks to him for about a year. I really have mixed feelings, and that's why I gave him a C across the board. In some areas he got an A, but the last visit, I would give him an F. So I figured a C average.
I wouldn't say he offers anything exceptional. Seems to be a good guy and does what he needs to do. Basically, the typical every day auto repair shop. However, we did have one issue that I was very concerned about. Which is why we stopped using them.
I will say, I don't think it was purposeful. To say, I don't believe they were trying to do anything unethical. I just simply think they misdiagnosed. Another words, they made a mistake. Still, in my line of work, that mistake would've cost me wasted money. Which is why we stop using them. Over $1,000 wasted money
One of our trucks was making a noise, and they diagnosed it as a catalytic converter. I forgot what they quoted, but it was a heck of a lot of money. I chose not to get the work done. It was functioning, just making a rattling sound.
Fast forward a few months, as noise got worse. I thought I would get a second opinion. Brought it to Midas muffler in Mount Pleasant. He called me 45 minutes later and said come pick it up, it's fixed. Come to find out, and I forget exactly now, but something had come loose, one of the pipes or something that was making the noise. Total charge was $65.
They weren't on the list at the time, so I added them and gave them a sterling review. But I delayed and debated about whether or not to leave this review. But obviously, even though almost a year has gone by, it still bothers me so I decided to do it.
I called Richard and spoke with him about it at the time. He denied it and said that none of the invoices he had showed anything about the catalytic converter. He was adamant about it. I guess that was the most frustrating part. If he had just apologized and said sorry, it happens from time to time, I would probably still be using them.
But he went on and on about how he never looked at one of our trucks for that issue, it wasn't him, wrong repair shop, blah blah blah. I explained to him that we had brought in the truck to get all the fluids exchanged and while they had it I said would you look at that noise. And that's probably why he didn't see an invoice on it. But he still denied it.
And again, I don't think he purposefully denied it, I don't think he lied about it. I think he just forgot. He seems like a straight up guy. Bit of an attitude, but straight up. But when you have an issue like that, what you're really looking for is SINCERE apology. Not plausible deniability. And when you can't even get that, it puts an even worse taste in your mouth.
"We hate to see below average reviews and would love if you stopped by and (mention this review, and this response) to Richard directly and see if we can help make this right. We do make mistakes and we are human. But we'd love to make this situation right."
The repair was made and I got the Jeep the next day. Now, the Jeep starts immediately with no problem.
But that was not enough. Richard's always does the best they can, e.g., the body of the driver's mirror was loose and would change position every time I closed the door, so they put a zip tie in the correct spot to hold it in place. I consider it fixed!
Thanks to Richard's Automotive!
I highly recommend Richard's Automotive Service for all automotive repairs and service. They are fair and honest and do a value-added job every time.
I have all my work done at Richard's Automotive because they are pleasant to work with, honest, and they always do a little something extra. The mechanics at Richard's are polite and friendly and always do a great job.
There are three kinds of companies; those that do less than full value, those that do an adequate job, and those that do more than full value, or value-plus. Richard's is consistently a value-plus company.
I highly recommend Richard's Automotive Service for their honesty and competence.
"this girl is my oldest sons' "baby momma"and is mad because I quit paying all of their bills and trying to make them accountable for their actions. She is a NUT CASE!!!!!!"
They committed to having the work done in no more than two days, and were actually able to complete it in one.
Prompt, polite, reasonable price and ahead of schedule-- we will definitely use them again.
They called me back with the diagnosis and the price to fix. I gave them approval.
All the issued were fixed the same day. I picked my car up and you get a discount for paying cash!
These guys were professional from start to finish, very friendly and to the point. No extra plugs at you, like hey you should get your shocks replaced since we are in there.
First off, Richard's had the best pricing, he beat his competitors, and by a lot. For example, Richards beat the other three competitiors U-joint estimates by $75! Seriously...... could not have been happier with the price.
I took the truck in and he reviewed it with me before preforming the service. He showed me the concerns he observed, and he discussed the concerns/issues I had with the truck with me. He actually told me my truck didn't need a couple of services I assumed it did, saving me probably $200-300. Had I walked in to many other shops and told them I thought my truck needed a particular service, they would preform it and charge me even if I was wrong. I respect he told me the services weren't needed and that I had another 20K miles before I need to consider those particular services again.
My truck is running great! I couldn't be happier with Richards. He's "my mechanic" from now on ! Also, I'd take cars there for anything small too - like tire repairs or simple oil changes. His crew is super fast and really nice guys. Wish I would have found his shop a year ago when I moved to town.
Also, if you have any concerns about the negative post here from the guy with the steering wheel, you can talk to Richard about it. From what I read in the review, and what I experienced at Richards shop, I simply don't buy it. Richard made it very clear he stands behind his work.
