Now on to the MISSING items all from the master bedroom closet. My sewing machine and all of my sewing stuff, boxes of mementos, boxes of buttons, an abdominal wrap, a basket containing 4 purses, towels, and hooks that were on the doors.
We purchased their "GOLD" insurance plan for the move and have had ZERO success with the owners Ronnie Fulmer and Matt Doescher and their office manager Chris. Apparently, they can't get their stories straight..Chris told us a claim was submitted..Ronnie and Matt say they want to handle it in house..To date NOTHING has been taken care of. Our estimate to repair and replace is over 2K. Not counting our missing items which Ronnie and Matt said.."don't worry..they will show up sometime." ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! I left out a missing glass top which they said "oh, the movers probably broke it and didn't report it to us.". Not that it would matter..
IF you value you possessions DO NOT USE Movers and Groovers..
I also have learned we are not alone..but WE will do everything we can to warn people. They ignore your emails..promise to email or call..and they DON'T.
We have also reported them to various agencies because we just don't believe anything they say OR that they should be allowed to continue to operate their business to unsuspecting consumers without awareness and oversight. The magnitude of the damages by Movers and Groovers is devastating, the magnitude of their indifference is criminal.
Feel free to contact me, we have pictures, as do they, of the damages their company caused.
The next day Calvin and Evan arrived exactly on time and got to work. They were very pleasant and professional gentlemen, and fast workers! Packing was done in 3 hours (and it would have taken me several days). Most of that was heavy reference materials and books on the second floor. If there was anything they weren't sure of, they asked. And they worked hard - they didn't take a break at all. After the packing was done, they went straight to the storage place and unloaded in about 30 minutes.
I was pleasantly surprised about the cost, given the short notice. Having assistance with packing, loading and unloading was absolutely worth it.
I would definitely use this company again. In fact, we'll probably get them to help move everything out of storage when the time comes.
"Wow. This is news to us. No call has been made to Movers & Groovers with these accusations This is the first we are hearing about it on a social media network. If we promoted that behavior we would not be in business. We would like to discuss this more. Please give us a call at 843-225-9051"
I typically would not wait so long to submit a review, but honestly I felt it was better that I did so to give myself more perspective. Moving is never easy and I wanted to be as fair about this as possible. The folks at Movers and Groovers were very kind to work with and I felt that it was only fair of me to be honest in both the positives and negatives of our experience.
As stated earlier, the folks at Movers and Groovers were very pleasant to work with both in office and moving staff.
Our house sold and our closing happened very quickly and they were not intimidated by the short time frame that we had to work in. It was also extremely hot during the week of our move and although it was an evening move, I felt sorry for these poor guys struggling in the humidity and heat.
On the not so positive side, we have had quite a few residual effects from this move some are miniscule and really expected to some degree with any move (nothing is ever going to be perfect..dinged floors and walls, oddly packed items). Others not so much and continue to weigh on me today.
1) Due to the fact that our sofas and chairs were not covered and the above mentioned heat, my living room recliner has been thrown out and my sofa (even though cleaned now) still shows the remnants of the move. Unfortunately, the cushions were all carried in uncovered and under the arms of the very hot movers...it is micro suede so the stains have been difficult to remove, it too will have to be replaced as soon as we can manage....suggestion would be to make sure all fabric (mattresses, cushions, etc) is covered.
2) We are not wealthy people by any stretch, but we do have a few items that have been passed on to us of value that I felt could have been handled better. The bottom of my grandmother's 75 year old chest of drawers was broken off when placed in our bedroom, a standing jewelry chest was carried in upside down so everything inside was tangled and dislocated, expensive purses thrown in the bottom of a wardrobe box with loose wire hangers. Grant it, some of these things are not the end of the world, but perhaps taking a little more time and thought in packing and unloading. Unfortunately the dresser was the largest casualty in the set.
3) We still have missing items (this is probably my biggest issue and why I write). I had hoped if I waited long enough surely they would turn up somewhere, but unfortunately six months later that is not the case. My children's beds still sit unassembled in my son's room because we have not been able to locate the screws and pieces to reassemble them. What do you do with beds you can not put together...you cannot even give them away. We have finally been able to locate the manufacturer and for almost $70.00 they will send us replacements....ugh...I would really love to know where those things are. Also, we have a drawer missing from our dining room table. Why this drawer was removed and none of the others is beyond me. I kept thinking we would find it in the bottom of a box or an armoire, but obviously that has not happened. Again, we have a table that could never be sold or even given away because who wants a table with a irreplaceable drawer? Of course the drawer was also full so we have also lost all that held. :( Where could it have gone?? Nothing was left on the truck when my husband did the last check of the back.
Anyway, I have felt very mixed feelings towards my review. I appreciated them working with our schedules and their positive attitudes and I did feel sorry for the guys in the heat. Would I use them again? I am really not sure. I wish there was a "maybe" button above. Perhaps for a smaller move or if I had the opportunity to pack things myself and simply have them move and we had more time to oversee what was being moved and how. I know that it must be very difficult to find good and trained movers, but...when you pay for professionals I would expect a little bit more knowledge in how things should be packed and moved especially in dealing with antiques or valuable items.
"We are licensed. Movers are required to be registerd and regulated by the state. The office of regulatory staff website is where you look to find regulated movers. We do the best to protect our client furniture. No claim has been sent to us as we would have handled."
They quoted me one price and then charged me double after. I explained what rooms we had and the owner felt sure that cost w/ the number of guys and a truck would be fine. They never came to look at everything. Which the owner explained afterward that he "did not have time to come look at every house because he is too busy". When they arrived they knew they were understaffed and not equipped enough w/ just one truck. It took two days instead of one! Plus they were not told to bring packing items I requested. Long story short, they charged me double what they quoted and said that is just how things are done in the moving business. On top of that, the owner was the worst arrogant jerk I have ever spoken with! Too bad because the guys moving us were very nice, although they broke our antique dining room table and secretary.
These guys are exactly what their name says: "Movers and Groovers!" This was my 18th move (retired Navy) and I've never seen a moving crew work as hard and fast as they did. The crew leader told me to sit back and relax; they were going to take care of me, and they did exactly that!
Herb and Justin arrived on time and ready to load. They were polite and took care to load the truck carefully. They loaded up in about 90 minutes and were at the assisted living facility before we were. Everything was set up as we requested and we were very happy. Only one thing was broken and that was something that I did not think needed extra care.
All in all we had a great experience.
I recommend this company, and especially these two men.
I don't think I've EVER seen 2 men work so hard in my life, NON-STOP!
I would definitely recommend them!
