Every aspect was exceptional.

The company and the technicians were good.

They are very good.  The people that have come have been very very nice.  I don't really know what the going price is for these services.  Matter of fact they will call or text you that it's time for maintenance and for you to call at your convenience.  I would use them again.

It is my position that the top of the line Lennox units were either defective at installation, had a known defect or were poorly maintained by M&B. In any case I will never buy a Lennox product again or buy from M&B again.

Brett came by and checked existing unit and provided pricing for 3 options for replacement. We choose energy star rated unit and work was scheduled and completed in a timely manner. The crew did a great job and they took as much time as we needed to explain how the system worked. Very pleased and would reccomend.

They were awesome. The workers were very professional.

Overall, I was happy with the installation and the price of the new system. I found almost all of their technicians to be competent, and they cared about doing a good job. I was happy with the different options they gave me for the new system, and there was no pressure to go to a more expensive unit. Best things about the new equipment installation:  It was done quickly and they worked around my schedule; the technicians seemed very competent and worked quickly; the equipment they sell (Carrier) is high quality; the price was reasonable; when they replace the ducts, all parts are replaced, out to the registers. Things I wasn't so happy about: they moved the location of the thermostat without asking me if the location they'd chosen was okay; when the new thermostat was installed, they ran a wire through a closet without securing/hiding it; one of the duct boots fell off shortly after it was installed (however, they quickly fixed it); they did not remove all of the debris from the old system from the crawlspace; they re-used some of the old wiring, when it was supposed to be completely new. Overall, though I was very happy and satisfied with this major work that I'd been putting off for too long.
Because I was happy with the previous service I'd received, I recommended M&B to a friend whose system was blowing air, but wouldn't heat. I called them to set up a maintenance visit, hoping that the no-heat was just something minor, such as a wiring issue. It was easy to get an appointment at my convenience. The technician looked at the system, and basically said that it was too messed up to do anything with. He called his management to ask them how he should proceed. Apparently, their opinion was that the duct-work needed to be replaced before they could even look at anything else. So he recommended that we get an estimate for a new system, in case it came to that. I was charged a $95 diagnostic fee, which I paid. We did discuss with the technician that my friend had an HVAC warranty through SCE&G. He suggested we call them to see if they could do anything about it. But basically he said that M&B wasn't willing to work on the system, but they would be happy to replace it. That was the end of the visit - no diagnosing anything that could be done to get it up and working. He just looked at it, and recommended replacing it, or first seeing what the warranty folks would do with it. That was pretty much it.
My friend subsequently called SCE&G for the warranty service. They sent out another company two days later. That technician found - through a bit of diagnostics - that the system had been wired incorrectly for a heat pump rather than a furnace/package unit. For a $50 deductible fee, the heater was fixed, and it's now heating. I have no doubt that there are issues with the system that still need to be addressed, but it was very disappointing to me that I got this little effort for a $95 fee from Myatt & Bates - especially after I'd spent a lot of money with them and had recommended them. Overall, I chalk this up to the fact that they likely have some technicians who are more experienced, and others that aren't.
The final episode was getting a call from them a few days later, asking me to pay them for the visit. I told them that I gave the check to the technician. (The check cleared the bank a few days later...) I also explained how I wasn't happy with the maintenance call. They offered to send someone else out, but I told them it'd already been fixed.
So, I've had some good experience, some bad with M&B. I'm not sure I'll recommend them anymore. But to be honest, I've had really bad luck finding people to do all types of work in Charleston. (Everyone on Angie's List seems to rate everyone as an A - which is difficult to believe. But I think a C is fair here.) But to be clear, on the most expensive aspect of the work, I was happy. It's just work on an old system that I would not recommend them for.

They sent a repairman within 24 hours, who recommended and installed a more expensive thermostat with features we discovered later were incompatible with our HVAC system. After inspecting our system, their engineer told us all of the ductwork needed to be replaced at an estimated cost of $9,000. Two other HVAC companies recommended repair vs. replacement, both with estimated cost of $2,000. We felt M&B recommended unnecessary work at high cost.

The experience was great.  They were courteous and on time.  I was happy with the work.

We have used M&B in the past and would definitely recommend them!  They always do a great job for us in servicing our equipment.

They're coming to do a check-up Wednesday, they guarantee a free inspection when you purchase a heating/A/C unit through them. We're very pleased with them.  They're very cooperative.  We're very pleased with the change in our heating and cooling, these units are bigger and more efficient.

Arrived promptly, performed the servicing quickly and knowledgeably.

Last November on a Saturday afternoon, I called M&B Heating and Air out to my home because my heat was not working.  Julie on the phone was so nice and they got a technician to my home within the hour and had my heat back up and running in about an hour.  It turns out the company whom installed my air conditioner installed the zone board incorrectly and everything had to be re wired.  Their technician was very helpful and worked diligently to ensure my family got some heat asap.
Last Friday, June 19th, I had M&B out again because I had water dripping out the closet where my unit is located, and dripping out an air vent. Apparently my unit had been freezing up because there was a clogged drain line.  The technician-(Calvin) explained that routine maintenance could have prevented this issue.  I signed up for their "cool club" maintenance program, and while he was performing the maintenance, he also found that I had a small refrigerant leak.  Calvin repaired the leak, finished his maintenance, and again had my system up and running in no time!  I could feel an immediate difference when I returned home from work, and I also am sure my electric bill will be drastically lower this month! :)
I would highly recommend Myatt & Bates Heating & Air to any of my friends and family.  Their team is friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, and I am so glad they were recommended to me!

I own several rental properties and one of my tenants called saying the air wasn't working. I called Myatt and Bates and they scheduled me for the next day which I was happy about. It's very hot in Charleston! The person answering the phone was friendly and knew a good deal about HVAC (unlike me). Like I said, they got me scheduled in and once the technician got there and figured out what the problem was he called me to make sure I approved for him to make the repairs. They had the air back to working that afternoon and allowed me to pay via credit card so I never had to take off of work which was a bonus. I called one other company that was a little cheaper for a service call but I am happy I choose Myatt and Bates. Professional, timely, did what they said they were going to do for fair price.

They charged $90 for the repair plus an $85 diagnostic fee.  No parts
are listed on the invoice, only "2 low voltage problems".  This repair
costs seems excessive considering it was only two loose wires.
Unrelated, Angie's List notes that this company has an issue with BBB.  It appears that they are simply not accredited with the BBB and there appears to be no outstanding issue or revocation.  Always review the BBB site as this notation can be misleading.

I was pleased with them. They did a good job. The unit is only two months old and it keeps cutting out. I don't know if they installed it wrong. They gave a more precise and accurate estimate instead of just eye balling it.

My normal air conditioning vendors did not have technicians available on the Saturday my home air conditioner was down. Called M&B out of yellow pages. They came promptly and found stripped wire and coolent leak within minutes of arival. He taped the wires, braised the coolent pipe leak, recharged and tested the system. All work completed within 2 hours. Everything great EXCEPT PRICE! The technician charged $125 up front for diagnosis and then quoted another $886 to fix. This seemed high for no more than 10 lbs of freon and two hours work; however, I had no idea what was resonable and agreed. The technician told me most of the cost was for the $70/lb freon. Afterwards my two normal air conditioning vendors inspected the job. Each said the repair was adequate, but said their charges would have been less than one-half of M&B's price as freon was much, much less than I was charged. In short, great service from a dishonest company that will take advantage of your ignorance. Be very wary of them.

My heat pump was continually breaking. Either no heat or no cool. The company I had been using was very slack and even when they fixed the problem it soon broke again. My unit is a top of the line Lennox and is only 3 years old but I was beginning to think I purchased a Yugo. That is until I found Myatt & Bates. From the office staff to the technicians I am 100 % satisfied. I just wish I had found them first.

They are responsive and good about following up with you.

I thought that they were very responsive. We had some problems the week it was installed and they were very prompt in getting someone out here to fix it for us.
