He took the money and never came back. We have tried to take him to court, but all of the addresses attached to his name are incorrect. We hired a private investigator to serve court papers and the PI can't find him. We don't want to hire a lawyer, but that is the next step.
Prior to stealing approximately $5,000 from us, we were extremely pleased with his work.
I always give the example of the roof installation. I received quotes from three general contractors. He was the only contractor who went on the roof and made a quick repair (at no charge) while he was getting the information he needed to prepare the quote. I thought he was a honest, exemplary contractor. After the roof, we used him to paint the house and do inside renovations.
Then he stole our money. His work his good, but don't give him money up front.
