All PI's get a retainer up front. Some want to much and some to less then they nickel and dime you. My retainer usually covers all costs. Make sure what ever PI company you talk to mentions a "client contract". We are licensed by SLED and mandated to do a contract which protects you the client. I give free consultations and once I start the case I keep my clients updated daily if not more developing a close working relationship...

Les made my spouses adultery as bearable as possible. He was understanding, professional and spent a lot of time on the phone with me without charging me. From beginning to end Les informed me of what was going on. I expected a lot from a retired New York City detective but Les went above and beyond.
