They are actually good. Its an family owned business, and they are pretty good. They are good. An family owned business is smaller, so you have to wait more. You make an appointment, and we didn't have to have it. It wasn't an emergency. It was maintenance stuff for the air conditioning.

Not that great, actually. We used AirTek to replace our old units with brand new equipment in 2012. I reviewed them here on Angie's List and gave them an A at the time. Had I know then what I know now, I would NOT have scored them that high. It is now 2016 and here's what we discovered when our A/C unit on the second floor suddenly stopped working: the equipment up in the attic was held together with duct tape AND the installers left garbage and trash all inside the casing where the condenser coil is. When my current A/C guy opened up the cabinet to replace leaking coil (which he said is NOT leaking as a result of the poor install - it's a freak defect in the coil that is covered by the A/C manufacturer), he immediately came down from the attic to tell me what he DID found. Basically, a huge mess and nothing installed correctly. I told him that AirTek had come highly recommended, and he said that we're lucky our attic equipment lasted as long as it has (4 years) given the shoddy install. So needless to say, I wanted to come back here to Angie's List and CORRECT my original glowing review. Because the review is so old, I'm not able to edit and revise it, so I'm posting a new one in place of updating the old one. BEWARE. The equipment they provide may be at a great price (cheap), but the subsequent repairs required because of their lousy install will also be at a great price (expensive).

Airtek is a honest ,reliable company. I don't know what I'd do without them ! Beth, Bobby and Paul. They are so nice and accommodating. I have used them for a few years and highly recommend them!

I have purchased two Sanyo heat pumps to heat and AC my garage/mancave and my attached garage. My expereince has been very good. I have had two service calls. The first involved the failure of the outside unit in one of the two units. airtek got Sanyo to replace the unit in a respectable time. When Sanyo took a little extra time, Airtek was quick to contac them and keep me informed. When I had a noise problem on the other unit, they came out quickly and corrected it in a very short time. Overall, I am very satisfied,. with Airtek, Bennie Etter and his staff as well as the Sanyo units.

A co-worker of my husband's knew we were obtaining quotes from vendors to get new A/C units installed after ours died. We had been getting other recommendations and were having no luck finding someone we liked, with reasonable prices. On a whim, we called AirTek after the co-worker raved about them.My husband met them at the house, and they made several recommendations that the other vendors had no made. Not only that, but their apples-to-apples quote for the equipment was much lower than three other vendors we had spoken with. In the end, we went with AirTek based on the co-worker's recommendation, my husband's rapport with the techs that came to the house, as well as the final price we were able to negotiate with them. I called them on a Tuesday to confirm we wanted them to do the work, and by Thursday afternoon they were at our house taking care of business - just in time to beat a lengthy heat spell which started on that Friday!The new units are great, and it's nice to be in a cool house again (it took us a month after the original units died before we found AirTek and chose them for the job)!! Our home was built by Infinity Homes of Rock Hill, SC, along with several other homes in our area and Airtek was the installer of all HVAC systems. Since we purchased this new stick built home in February 2005, we have had major problems with our A/C unit never shutting off during the heat of the summer, especially when temperatures are at 90 degrees or above.

In the summer of 2011 I called Airtek and had them come out and diagnose my A/C unit and perform their so-called and quot;spring tune-upand quot;. I asked them also explain to me why the house would never cool down below 75 - 76 degrees when the outside temperature was above 90 degrees. When all was said and done, I was told there was nothing wrong with my A/C unit other than it was just a little low on freon, which the technician stated he and quot;toppedand quot; off and it was now full. I also asked the technician to investigate why there was no air flowing from the vent in the guest bathroom, and that was never looked at, and to this day, there is still no air flowing from the vent in our guest bathroom.

Airtek's recommendation was that I have an attic fan installed to draw the hot air out of my attic during the summer months. I asked the techncian why this wasn't installed when the house was being constructed, especially considering the heat and humidity in SC. He stated, you'll have to ask the builder about that, we only performed the work that was stated in the scope of our contract with Infinity Designs.

None of my other neighbors have attic fans and have the same ridge vents installed on their roof lines as I do. Both neighbors on either side of me stated they have never had a problem with keeping the temperaure in their homes at a constant setting during the summer time, and they don't have attice fans.

My next door neighbor, who recently moved, is a mechanical engineer and was the plant manager for a firm located in Charlotte, so I asked him if he knew of anyone who might be able to tell me the problems I was having with my A/C unit. He stated he knew a guy who had done work for him at his plant on several occasions and was now retired, but the gentleman did stop by to look at unit for no charge. He stated the A/C unit was never fully charged prior to our occupying the home. He added almost 3 pounds of freon to the A/C unit and that seemed to solve the problem, for now! We'll have to see how this summer goes as to whether or not the unit can keep up with the heat.

Airtek is a top notch HVAC contractor in the Charlotte area. They are always prompt and professional and their pricing is extremely fair - even on accessories for which the typical contractor tries to add a ridiculous markup. We've had 3 or 4 different service personnel out to our home from Airtek and their level of service has been consistently superb.

Airtek had previously installed a new downstairs ac/heating unit for us. They did such an outstanding job with the downstairs installation, that we decided to use them to install the new upstairs ac/heating unit. They performed the upstairs installation with the same care and quality as the downstairs installation. The Airtek crew was very punctual and worked diligently to remove the old unit and install the new one. They were very careful not to scuff up the walls and flooring, especially with all the activity in and out of our attic and up and down our curved hardwood stairwell. They were very professional and cleaned up everything, well after a full hard day's work. We have been very pleased with the installation and the performance of the new units. Airtek has done a very good job for us and we look forward to the the same care and responsiveness on the maintenance of both of our ac/heating units.

Ed K. of Airtek made this experience as straight forward and simple as possible. We received quotes from 8 companies off of Angie's list and there was no comparison to the proposal and professionalism of Ed K. at Airtek. We researched HVAC information on brands, units, and installers for 1 month and only 2 of the companies we received quotes from took measurements, looked at duct work, insulation, windows, ran Manual J calc., etc. Airtek was 1 of them. After answering our questions and looking over the house, Ed ran calculations and printed out a formal proposal (including pictures of our HVAC system and proposed systems that Airtek had installed) with 3 options for us. This was done on the spot---no waiting. Ed was also the only one who thought "out of the box" and offered us a customized system specific to our situation. Airtek gave us different options that would be better for us and not the standard "plug and play" offerings, which was the easy answer. Great Job, Airtek!

BENNY RETURNED MY PHONE CALL PROMPTLY AND SHOWED UP AT THE ARRANGED TIME. WAS VERY COURTEOUS AND KNOWLEDGEABLE AND DID NOT TRY TO TALK OVER ME. DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND HAD PEOPLE OVER THERE THE NEXT WEEK (WAS NOT AN EMERGENCY). PROBLEM WAS ADEQUATELY ADDRESSED. AFTERWARDS, I HAD AN UNRELATED ISSUE AND HE CALLED ME BACK AFTER I LEFT ONE MESSAGE. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM AGAIN.

MY FIRST EXPOSURE TO THIS COMPANY WAS IN '97 OR '98 WHEN A GOVERNMENT RECALL OCCURRED ON THE PLASTIC VENT PIPE USED ON THE GAS FURNACE LOCATED IN OUR CRAWL SPACE. AIRTEK WAS THE ONLY COMPANY ON THE GOVERNMENT LIST OF HEATING CONTRACTORS PARTICIPATING IN THE RECALL THAT RETURNED MY CALL. PARTICIPATING CONTRACTORS WERE TO REPLACE THE PLASTIC VENT PIPE WITH DOUBLE WALLED GALVANIZED VENT PIPE AND AN EXHAUST FAN ASSEMBLY FOR A PREDETERMINED PRICE. I WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH THE SERVICE THAT I STARTED USING THEM FOR ALL OUR HEATING AND AC REPAIRS. IN 1999 THEY REPAIRED A LEAK IN A REFRIDGERANT LIQUID LINE OF THE AC AND RECHARGED THE SYSTEM FOR $204. IN 2000 THEY REPLACED A CONTROL MODULE IN THE FURNACE FOR $464. THIS INCLUDED $225 FOR THE MODULE AND 3 HOURS LABOR FOR $216. NO OTHER WORK HAS BEEN REQUIRED. CONSISTENTLY RELIABLE, RESPONSIVE, PROMPT AND FAIRLY PRICED.
