BROOKS TREE SERVICE & LANDSCAPING

Tree trimming was promised to be done in one week. At the end of the week, we called him to find out why he hadn't started, he said it was wet because of it having rained and he didn't want to get stuck. We told Mr. Brooks that the builder needed the lower branches on two trees cut down so they could start framing. Two weeks later he cut the branches. The builder called us and said the branches had been cut but they were just laying there in the way and he had no equipment there to move them. So my husband & I went over after work with a chain saw, cut up the limbs and rolled/dragged them out of the way. Husband had a dislocated should and I have high blood pressure but we did it. Mr. Brooks has actually taken way more than a month to do the job. Today there are still tree branches that he left. Mr. Brooks called us today and said he wanted to be paid his money. I said we did not think he was done with the job since there were still branches laying on the ground and trees that had not been trimmed. We told him we had to cut and move the branches from the tree next to the house site ourselves with our issues and at our age. He said, so what he's got a bad back. He then started yelling and saying that he had done everything we had asked plus more. When I asked what he was talking about, he said he even cut the brush in the ditch that ran down to the lake and he got in trouble with the Lake Warden! I told him that we never asked him to do that. That only mad him madder. He said he had been calling to get us to get paid and we never answered the phone. I said we had voice mail and never had a record of him calling and he never left a voice mail. I said we answered today and that was the first time we had heard from him in weeks. We had been waiting for him to finish the job and call us to make arrangements to pay. He then said if we did not pay him his $700 by the end of today, he would go back to our lot and cut down every tree! I said if he cut down our trees, I would call our attorney and sue him. I do not think I have ever been so angry, I am not a sue type of person. He then said he only had old trucks and we would not be able to get anything out of it  and we would still have no trees! So be warned he does not do the job on a timely basis, work quality is poor, he doesn't clean up and he is a terrible person and businessman. I have to go over and pay him today. Basically it is blackmail. If more trouble happens I will update this review.

He really did a good job of taking both the trees down and getting it all cleaned up. I was only expecting one to be removed. The other was to be pruned, but ended up with both trees gone. He was very apologetic about the misunderstanding, and gave me a terrific price for that. I would use this service again, because he showed us he could do good work. When he messed up, he did what he could to remedy the situation.
