Received an estimate from Pete for a local Hilton Head Island move... Told him what I would do in advance... They came exactly when they said they would come; they were very professional and protected my furniture beautifully; they arrived at the new house and protected the stairways and they placed the furniture where we wanted. When they were done, Pete said I did exactly what I told him I would do so the cost came in at the low end of the estimate. The most professional move I have had in over 2 dozen moves (I am 75) in my adult life. I would use them again without any hesitation.

It went great. The 2 gentlemen were right on time, and in fact, early! Very professional and did tight, professional packing.
We couldn't have asked for a better job!!

Arrived on time and worked diligently without stopping. They were friendly and very careful with my items. Price was very reasonable and I highly recommend these movers. I plan to use them again.

They were recommended as the best by everyone that I asked. The problem is that they are so good that they book up months in advance. We decided to move all of the boxes and smaller items and they handled the antiques, oversized and delicate pieces. The cost ended up being lower than was quoted since they managed to complete the job in a lesser amount of time.

Peter Horey, the owner of Hilton Head Moving and Storage, and his 2 guys performed the best move that I have ever been involved with on Valentine's Day - who moves on Valentine's Day. We moved from a raised 3 bedroom house to a raised 2 story, 5 bedroom house. Peter quoted me a price that was a little higher than the 2 other companies I had looked at, but I felt very comfortable with him and liked that fact that the owner was actually working the move (and he was highly recommended by a new neighbor as well as one of his competitors). He also used all 3 of his 20 ft. trucks while the others had quoted the use of one 26 ft. truck. Peter's point being that they don't have to pack as tight which will make the loading and unloading faster. Boy was he right. They loaded the whole house in 2 hours and unloaded at the other end in 2 hours (remember we are talking 3 bedrooms and some unique and big wooden cabinets and elevated houses). They worked fast, efficient, and very careful. The guys were great to joke around with. They appeared to really enjoy this stuff which was great to see. Both ends where faster than the original estimate which brought the final cost much lower than the other 2 quotes. We would never have loaded all of our stuff in 1 26 ft. truck as the other 2 companies had quoted which would have meant an extra trip and most likely an extra day and the whole aggravation that goes with that along with a much higher cost than estimated. Sometimes a person lucks into a smart decision. This was one the the smartest decisions I have made in awhile.
If I could give HHMS a higher grade than an A+ I would. In fact I will give them an A+++++++. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HILTON HEAD MOVING and STORAGE FOR ANY MOVE. THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST - (and fun to work with)

For an in-town move one bedroom apartment, it was a shared house but we had broken it up into two apartments, they charged me $1000.00. My experience was very negative. They rescheduled my move even though I had had people call to confirm. They rescheduled my move on me three times. Several items were damaged because they had taken everything out of the apartment and set it on the sidewalk and then were loading it on to the truck. It started to rain and it was a good ten minutes before my stuff was covered with a tarp. There were some books and some other things that had gotten water damaged. The glass top of a coffee table went missing and they couldn't find it, so they weren't able to replace it. There were things that were broken and the crew was understaffed. For two men it took too long. They should have had me out of my apartment because my stuff was all pre-packed. I packed everything myself. It should have taken them maybe two hours. The load-out took about 4 hours and the load-in took about 4 hours. I moved from a shared apartment to a one bedroom apartment with my boyfriend and 8 hours was ridiculous. The owner was willing to make accommodations as they had to reschedule my move because of the weather and what not. They knocked $200.00 off of the final cost. They did try to work with me, but the overall service and the damage to my goods and trying to get my claim filed took about two or three weeks. The $800.00 they charged me for an in-town move was ridiculous. It was very hard to get them on the phone when I was trying to get my rescheduled move worked out and trying to get claims information taken care of. They told me that they would be there at one time and on various occasions they were anywhere from half an hour to an hour late. I would not use them in the future.
Response from HILTON HEAD MOVING & STORAGE
"In response to this member claim about Hilton Head Moving & Storage, I think she must have confused my company with another. We are a South Carolina mover, we do not do any work in the state of GA, or the city of Savannah. We are a small company, owners are on the move jobs, and on August 4, 2009 we were moving a customer within Hilton Head Island, so it would have been quite a feat to be in two locations at once. If she would like to call me to discuss her problems, maybe I could assist her in finding out who did such a poor job for her, It was NOT my company."

I recently moved to Hilton Head Island into a not so nice apartment complex, so after a month I broke my lease and found somewhere else to live. Not knowing anyone on the island to help me move, I looked in the phone book and that is where I found Hilton Head Moving and Storage. James (the owner) was very nice and professional. His guys came the next day on time and loaded up all my things. They were so fast and efficient, I was unpacked with everything by the end of the night, without anything being broken. I would definitely recommend this company!!!!
