Because of the great experience we had the first time, we called Joe back when we discovered our upstairs tub needed to be replaced. I know that during this time he was working on a bigger job in a more prestigious plantation, so my guess is he was focusing more on that one. Which would have been okay if he would have shared the timeframe with me upfront. It has been four weeks and our bathroom is still not finished. There are a number of minor tweaks that need to be done on the plumbing, the dry wall hasn't been touched and we have tile waiting to be laid. The sub he has working on the plumbing is a nice enough guy, but we keep getting promises that they'll arrive to work on it and then we don't hear anything. There have been several times when we've rearranged our schedule to be there and then they don't call or show up -- we both work full-time, so we don't have a lot of time on our hands.
When Joe was working on the interior door addition, I talked to him about a total kitchen renovation. He said he'd do a CAD drawing for me. It's been several months and I still haven't seen it, although I ask him about it every time I see him.
Joe is a great guy -- very personable, positive and a lot of fun. He has great ideas and good design sense. However, if it has taken a month to simply replace a bathtub, I can't fathom the amount of time he'd take on an entire kitchen renovation. I have three bathrooms in the house so I can live without one while the project drags on. I only have one kitchen...
"My client, [member name removed], is correct on all points except pricing. Because of the delays, I highly discounted the job and didn't charge for my labor on some portions of it. Unfortunately, I was overwhelmed with a number of projects that had begun at the same time, and had just gone through some personnel changes which effected my entire schedule. [member name removed] and her husband are great people and I appreciate their patience while I was working through my organizational changes and scheduling conflicts."
When we mailed Maloney the key to our unit, he took over as Project Manager and orchestrated with other sub-contractors and managed the event personally....every step of the way....to a successful conclusion. He was communicative with pertinent information and/or updates to us via email, text messaging, and telephone calls as appropriate. He made excellent suggestions - some of which we acted upon, and was clearly looking out for our interests.
Maloney brought our project in ahead of schedule and with NO additional costs at all. He was concise, organized, and completely involved with our project from the bid event through construction complete. Maloney was/is a professional and a pleasure to work with. We trusted him with our project and never questioned that trust as the project moved forward and are delighted with the results!
We are pleased to recommend Maloney and Compass to anyone needing this service. He is certainly a wise choice if you are not able to be in that area throughout your project and need someone to be your "eyes and ears" on the event to guide your project to a successful conclusion.
