Despite all of the delays, initial work seemed fine. In August, a major circumstance arose with the HVAC. The plumber met with me, since he was responsible from bringing the other guy onto the job, but deferred any repairs to the Sword Mechanical company who did the initial installation work. It looks like an attorney will be necessary to get these people back into the game to get things fixed and paid for repairs. Though the Plumber signed a one-year warranty, he has steadfastly refused to fix anything on his own dime or be active in getting the HVAC guy to do so. It also turns our that their General Liability insurance was filled with exclusions that have practically made those seem non-existent with respect to actually paying for any damages.
Description of Work: This plumber was interviewed in December to bid on a new house construction. At the time, he stated that he was also licensed to do HVAC work and could he provide that bid as well. Initial work on plumbing began in mid January, but he had only one worker on the job to do all of the work without any helpers. Though he was awarded both the plumbing and HVAC bids, it turned out that he sub-contracted the HVAC work to another contractor without telling me in advance. A one week HVAC job spanned almost five weeks instead. Neither the plumbing rough-in or the HVAC was accomplished on time. The delays were significant on all other schedules to get the job done and caused major delays, especially in scheduling and coordinating hardwood floor installation that needed heated and condition spaces to acclimate before that could be done.
