The following questions may be a prudent guide to to consider when entrusting the safeguard of your precious belonging to CAROLINA MOVERS. 1. Would you hire a company who drops off your belongings to your home and will not wait at the residence for the packages to be unpacked. Rather they shove a bill of lading at you for signature in order that they vacate ASAP? DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE LEAVE YOUR HOME UNTIL UNPACKING EVERY BOX (even if it takes them three days, which is what we were told it should take us, and thus were told they weren't going to look for items until that time period expired) AND VERIFYING THAT EACH AND EVERY ITEM IS ACCOUNTED FOR AS THEY POINT TO THE SIGNATURE ON THE DELIVERY DOCUMENTS AS YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF YOUR GOODS. You will see that in responses to other negative reviews. 2. Once you discover, an extremely expensive (obvious item, part of a set) is missing and you call the company as the truck is pulling away (before it leaves your plantation) do you expect that the company could contact/ stop the truck which is in sight to retrieve your property? 3. Would you expect the moving company to tell you that they would proactively look for your $1,600.00 Tiffany Lamp (one of a set) sometime next week and never get one single return call about the whereabouts of your property over a 3 month period? 4. Would you do business with a company that tells you “you don’t know how it works, your getting nothing from us in the end”? There was no search for our belongings and no report back to us, documented or otherwise. She was 100% right, we don’t understand why someone would take our property not not return it, in most States that constitutes larceny, does it not? Because the delivery documents were signed, wouldn't you take the only resource you had and stop payment for failure to deliver a service? 5. Would you do business with a company that provides you with a phone number and when you call the number to retrieve your belongings, you are told that your call is imposing on the female who is getting personal matters addressed at an appointment allegedly outside the confines of her business, during business hours? Would you expect that after several promises to return calls that you might at least get one call during the 3 day period following the move? 6. Do you want to do business with anyone who lies to you over and over again? Would you expect when someone says they will "check the truck" and "check the warehouse" where items were stored for over a year and call us back, you might get a call back? 7. Is it a criminal act to take another persons belongings and not return them? 8. Is the willful and intentional deceptive practice to concealing another persons belongings an actionable offense? 9. Do you want to do business with two women who appear to be incapable of safeguarding your belongings and refuse to return or address lost missing or stolen property? In my opinion, You may want to consider hiring another moving company, no matter how bad or good their ratings may seem to be, entrusting the safeguard of your belongings to Carolina Moving & Storage Company is akin to simply leaving your property in the street unsecured. The upside to that is you would not have to pay someone for storage and moving fees to take your property and not have it returned to you. THE CHOICE IS YOURS, IF YOU DON’T WANT TO GET RIPPED, HIRE A REPUTABLE MOVING COMPANY.

"Ms. [Member Name Removed]: We are sorry that you were not satisfied with your recent move with our company. We, in fact, did advise you that we thoroughly checked our warehouse and truck, and have no items of yours in our possession. Your entire storage shipment was delivered to you, and you signed for the receipt of all items in good condition."

During the preliminary time everything went well from the owner and his wife; to the office staff; everyone was very friendly and things couldn't have gone better. The morning of the move, the crew arrived. At first everything was okay. Then they became very nasty; very indifferent. They had major attitude problems and were very difficult to work with. They left my home with paper debris all over; including a mess in the guest room bathroom. They also left (6) 6 foot artificial plants and jardener standing in the living room; which were discussed at great length with the owner upon booking the move. During the day, I never heard from any member of management. When I realized they had left the 6 artificial plants, I called but I was unable to reach the owner. I reached the secretary after hours by calling Pete, owner of Hilton Head Movers for help in reaching them. Debra called back and had no idea of what happened. She could not explain it but said she would call back and she did. She told me she was sending the workman right back but it would take a couple hours. I ended up missing a party that was thrown for me. The men returned after 7pm; more arrogant and belligerent than before to pick up the 6 artificial plants. They literally threw them into the truck. The second day; the next morning, they were to meet me at my new residence in Greenville. When they arrived, they had an attitude and were nasty to me, my daughter as well as to a resident of where I am now living. Nothing more was said. They continued to unload the van in a very poor manner and finished unloading to my residence. The third drop off was at a storage unit; they literally threw everything in the unit; piling big boxes on small boxes; everything was a mess. It was obvious upon delivery to my residence 2 chairs were broken and very likely damage to the Grandfather clock but it was difficult to see. That same day,I spoke to Debra about the damage. I told them more than likely there would be additional damages but that was the end. The following day she issued a credit for the error in the price. I heard nothing further from them pertaining to the damage that was discussed. After a few weeks, they were sent a very very long letter fully explaining the reason for the delay as well as the damage in great detail. I gave them 10 business days from the date of receipt to respond. The damage was over $2,000; mostly to the Grandfather clock. I have a signed receipt showing they received the letter but I have yet to hear from them.

"We apologize for any inconveniences that the member experienced during his recent move with our company. We strive to provide the best possible moving services to all our customers and as our history proves, we rarely have unsatisfied customers. We did everything possible to accommodate him, especially in light of his ill health conditions and stress he was experiencing, to ensure his satisfaction with our company. From the beginning to the end, we went above and beyond to assist him – from delivering material and boxes to his home 5-6 times (free of charge), printed letters and estimates in large print so he could read easily, kept in touch with his daughter throughout the move. We packed and loaded all of his belongings and delivered them on the scheduled dates that we were contracted to do so. He signed all delivery documents (attached) to acknowledge receipt with no discrepancies noted. Deborah from our office spoke with his daughter after the move and all was well. She reported no issues. The next day, Deborah spoke with the member to discuss the move and they agreed upon a refund of $640.00 (attached) to his credit card which we promptly issued to satisfy him and make him happy. We were unaware of any other issues. Again, we regret that he is so dissatisfied with our services but we believe our refund already issued was more than a fair and reasonable settlement. Sincerely, Mike Larsen"

I called May 13th for an estimate for a bedroom set.  They gave me a ridiculous and outrageous price - $150/hr with a minimum of $600!  The "F" rating is justified by the outrageous pricing!

They are very energetic! They have all been laughing and smiling. They showed up on time. I just loved the owner Mike, he had a great personality. He gave me little inside knowledge on things I did not know about in this area. I had such a great feeling with them. This service was quoted at $150 an hour, it was the middle estimate of the three, but I felt best going with them! They were also caring about my injury, as I cannot walk much, I broke my foot.
