When it came to actually preparing the tax documents, our situation was not incredibly complex compared to some, but did include owning a farm and a furnished vacation rental property in states other than our state of residence, and a variety of related expenses, depreciation, and earnings; working outside our state of residence for part of the year; and some investment-related issues. Mr. Stewart knew exactly how to handle all of these issues, and helped us to identify everything we needed in terms of documentation. If any portions of the documentation were unclear, Mr. Stewart clarified and made sure all was in order.
Once we had provided and clarified everything needed, the process after that took about a week, after which we collected a very professionally constructed tax booklet containing all information that was sent to the IRS and state governments, to include a clear summary of our income, deductions, tax owed, and refund data, and an historic comparison with the previous year. Snyder and Stewart also thoughtfully included pre-addressed envelopes with tax payment coupons, and pre-generated coupons for a quarterly tax pay-ahead option for 2013. In addition, all of our original documentation was returned to us neatly in an envelope.
All-in-all, Snyder and Stewart's knowledge of tax law helped us to owe thousands of dollars less to the IRS, and helped us to secure a tax refund from our state of residence. The money spent on the preparation was well worth it, and the office staff also pointed out that the fee for the first year with their office is always higher than subsequent years, as all data is then already in the system. Dealing with them was a pleasant and professional experience, and we will have our taxes prepared by them again next year!
