FURNITURE CONNECTION

When I entered the store, I observed several sales people behind the desk. The looked up at me but did not approach. At the time I was looking for several accent pieces as well as the couch. What I saw was overpriced for the quality. Since I was not approached by a sales person, I left to look elsewhere. Finally convinced that Furniture Connection was my best option in town, I returned and experienced the same uninterested treatment from the staff. This time, I approached the desk and asked for assistance. The salesperson showed me several options and fabric samples, but left me on my own for extendened periods of time forcing me to look for her to ask other questions, at which time she directed me to areas of the store but did not accompany me. After spending most of the afternoon searching catalogues and the interner (because store selection is limited) I left with pamplets and samples to show to my husband. He returned with me several days later. This time the sales person approaced us immediatly but appeared distracted to the point that neither of us was confident that our order was written accurately. After a lot of inattention and waiting we finally ordered the sectional and learned there was a very long waiting period--over 10 weeks. During that time, there was never any follow-up from the sales staff regarding order status. The times I called, I was forced to leave messages since I was told that no one other that the person taking our order could check on it. The calls were not returned. Finally approx 2 weeks before the order was due, I visited the store and was told the the fabric was backordered. I requested that they contact the manf. to check status. They never did. After several more unreturned messages, I finally got a call saying everything was on schedule. When asked if the manf had been called, they said no but not to worry because "back-order" was just a "furniture term". The attitude of the person calling (not my sales person, imagine that) was very condesending. I asked again that they contact the manuf. They never did. After another round of frustrating, non returned calls, my sales person finally took my call and told me the couch was in. Delevery was arranged and completed as scheduled. Overall this was the worst example of customer service I have experienced. My advice to furniture shoppers in Aiken is to drive the 20 minutes to Augusta.
