I was very pleased with the work done. The lean-to roof was too shallow in comparison to the main barn roof and had no flashing which was causing water to pool.
They came to install and the windows were not tempered glass and had half screens. The windows were very cheaply made. The installation was sloppy and looked awful from the inside and outside. We called them to come out and fix the mess that they had created.
The installer came out and was angry with me and argued with me that the job was not sloppy or done wrong. The window sill they installed was bent and crooked, gaps were in the window, caulking was incomplete and they left wood screws on the grass and the driveway!
They did come back out to fix the installation finishing areas, but it is still unknown if we will get the tempered glass or full screens. I would not recommend this company or have anything else to do with them.
We were planning on having them do our entire house in siding and gutters, but not now. We will look for a more professional, customer friendly company that honors their agreements.
I was given an estimate on Tuesday June 17th for both the gutters and the screens. I told Johnnie to go ahead and install the gutters because I really needed them and I would get approval from the HOA on the screened porch. He said his gutter crew was out of town and when they returned they would be a week behind. I told him a week behind was alright. I was told they would call me with a date for the gutters. I got approval for the screens within a day or two and called Bates and Sons let them know. When I hadn't heard from them by the first week in July I called the office and was told they would be out on Wednesday July 9th. They actually showed up on Monday July 7th and installed the screened panels. I thought they would be out on the 9th for the gutters but no one showed up and there was no call. I called Johnnie and was told he forgot about the gutters and the gutter guy had a very sick relative but that they would be out that Thursday July 17th or Friday at the latest. No one showed up and no calls to let me know. I called again and was told Monday the 21st or Tuesday at the latest. Still no show and no calls. I then called another company and emailed Bates and Sons on the 24th to let them know I had arranged for another company to install my gutters. Someone called within an hour and apologized .
The screens were installed and they were really nice. The employees were very professional and cleaned up everything. I was extremely pleased with the work they did and the quality of their work. The installation of the gutters was a very small job, only on the back of my townhome. Maybe that's why I had so much trouble trying to get it done or maybe it wasn't worth the time for them to do it. They did come out to give an estimate within a day or two. They also did very nice work on the screened porch. They just need to work on customer communication and if the job is too small for them, say so.
