It was easy getting an appointment at Valenti for both the state inspection and oil change. It took a few minutes to check-in when I first arrived at Valenti; there were 2 people in front of me. Check-in was easy. However after this point, my experience was a bit convoluted. I told the service person that my car required special synthetic oil. I told them I wasn't sure of the brand or type, but that the owners manual which provided all of the details was in the glove box. Assuming that I had provided enough information to the service desk person, I left my car and went about running some errands. Ironically and unfortunately, my cell phone battery died and I wasn't able to charge the battery while I was out running errands. This turned out to be unfortunate because 30 minutes after I left, the service person had a question for me, called my cell phone and left a message about what type of oil to use....a message I didn't pick-up until 1.5 hours later when I returned to Valenti expecting my car to be ready. Because Valenti didn't hear back from me, they didn't start the service until I returned. Although I appreciate that they were proceeding cautiously because my car is not a Toyota, I was annoyed they they didn't think to check the type of oil noted in the owner's manual (which I had told them was in the glove box) to confirm what type of oil Seemed silly to me to wait to ask my opinion about the oil when I'm not a car expert or mechanic. Because of this hesitancy, I had to wait 2 hours for my car to be serviced!
Valenti Toyota did a fine job with the oil change, but from now on, I will only go to Valenti for my state inspection. They were hesitant and unfamiliar working on a Cadillac; I can respect their conservatism, but nonetheless, the experience was annoying.
