The owner, Mr. Ken Bird, came to give me an estimate (and take pictures, since I don't have a Smart phone, and couldn't E-mail pics to him). He was very nice, but I don't feel he was 100% forth-coming re the care this tub would need after re-glazing (more about this later). Eva, the secretary called me fairly soon after to set up an appoin't (she was very nice and professional). Mr. Ethan Helton came to do the job, and was extremely professional, friendly, and patient with all of my questions! The tub looked 100% better than it did, no question about that. I do have some issues, however, with a few things: 1. They take off the glass shower doors, but won't come back to replace them (I am a widow, almost 71, and there is no way I can put them back on myself.) 2. Mr. Helton, after completing the job and getting paid, gave me a list of 11 "Customer Care Instructions" (which were also E-mailed to me after the job was done). When I read them, I almost fainted: Some of the things required are not easy for a Senior citizen (with arthritis), and should have been discussed BEFORE the job was agreed upon. Waxing my tub with Turtle Wax was NOT easy for me (and I have to do it periodically). Wiping down my tub with a towel after every shower is not easy, either. If you don't follow the instructions, your "warranty will be voided". A-1 needs to provide these Instructions to customers, before the job is done, so they can make a truly informed consent, knowing the care required. Read them, and see if you agree with me: Customer Care Instructions and 5 Year limited warranty You can use your reglazed tub 36 hours after the technician leaves. Do not touch the surface for 36 hours. This 36 hour period is the soft cure period. During that time, limit the activity in your bathroom to reduce the air dust particles that will land on the tub before it cures. You can use your tub after the soft cure period but be very careful with use. The tub will become totally cured after approximately 30 days. Reglazing limited warranty - The reglazed surface is guaranteed from any lifting or peeling for 5 years if customer care instructions are followed. This warranty is nontransferable. Customer Care Instructions: 1. You can use the tub/shower 36 hours after reglazing. 2. Any surface dust will dissipate in 3 - 4 weeks with normal cleaning and usage. Don’t pick surface dust off with your fingers. 3. The best way to keep your tub clean is to wipe it down with a towel after each use. You don’t have to wipe it dry. 4. Polish 5 days after it has been refinished with a urethane polish like Turtle Wax. Reapply wax every 4 months. 5. Do not leave any bottles, spray cans, wet towels or bar soap on the surface for more than 24 hours. Rust from shaving cans will damage the surface. Water pooling under these items can damage the finish. 6. Maintain caulking around the tub. Water can seep into any spaces left without caulk and can cause premature failure of the coating at the edge of the reglazed surface. Moldy caulking must be replaced. 7. Chips in the finish caused by dropping sharp or heavy objects on the tub/shower are not covered in the warranty. Do not bathe pets in your reglazed bathtub. Their claws will damage the surface. 8. Use of loose bath mats with suctions cups will void warranty. Do not use suction cups of any kind. Suctions cups will lift the surface over time and water pooling under the mat will also breakdown the reglazed surface. 9. Abrasive cleaners will scratch the surface and damage the reglazed surface. Do not use abrasive cleaners or abrasive scrubbing pads. No SOS or Scotch brite pads nor any Comet or Soft Scrub cleaners. They are too abrasive. Good cleaners to use are Fantastic, Lysol Tub & Tile or Scrubbing Bubbles. Do not use bleach. 10. If maintenance workers need to stand in tub, have them remove shoes and stand on a towel placed at bottom of tub. The bottom of shoes can scratch the reglazed surface allowing water to get under the reglazing and lift the finish. 11. Leaky faucets must be repaired to stop water from dripping. Dripping water can cause damage over time. Damage caused by leaky faucets are not covered in the warranty. PS...I found a bath mat with no suction cups on amazon (it's made it Italy, where there is a lot of tub re-glazing done), in case you need one (local stores don't have them).
