Also, in relocating my furnace and installing new duct work, they blocked the gas shut off valve for my gas fireplace. I called the plumbing inspector for the city and after his inspection, he sent National Refrigeration a letter to make the gas shut off valve for the fireplace accessible, repair the UV light that the installed incorrectly (that's how the UV bulb broke) and to install the proper size gas-line for the Rinnai tank-less hot water heater so that it is within code and complies with Rinnai's installation procedure.
I've had multiple gas leaks and strange odors after they completed their work and they assured me that everything was ok. I called them the next day and complained about a strange odor in the basement...when they came out several times for this, they kept telling me that did not smell anything. I had a friend come over and he could smell a strange odor like something was burning, but National Refrigeration technicians kept denying that they could not smell anything. I would check my gas meter and I could tell with no gas appliances in operation, the meter was still registering that I was using gas. I called the plumbing inspector again and he said I need to contact the gas company. The gas company came out and found excessive gas was leaking and shut the gas off to my house. National Refrigeration sent a technician to repair the gas leak. After the technician was done he said there are no more gas leaks. The gas company came out and turned the gas on. After a few days I thought I could smell gas again, I call National Refrigeration about the gas leaks and they came out and said there were no gas leaks. After I few months had gone by, I guess when you smell gas for awhile your senses get adjusted to it. My neighbor called the gas company cause she could smell gas in her basement (I live in a townhome). They inspected her house and came to my home and found out I still had a bad gas leak and they shut my gas off again. I called National Refrigeration and their technicians came out and also found the gas leak and fixed it (so they say). Before the technicians left, I called the gas company and they sent their technician out and he checked their work after they told both of us that there was no longer a gas leak. The gas company checked their work and still found gas leaking. The National Refrigeration technicians attempted to repair the gas leak again but were unable. The gas company technician told the National Refrigeration technicians that he would repair the gas leak for them...which he did. Now I do not have any more gas leaking into my home. I still have to deal with excessive vent noise from the new main return vent that was installed. I have found that National Refrigeration tried to take short cuts and save money for themselves by installing a lot of flexible duct work instead of insulated metal duct work, they used a smaller diameter gas line to the hot water heater because the 1 inch gas line was more expensive. I also found incompetence for something as serious as gas leaks that they were given multiple opportunities to correct but didn't. I also found their lack of honesty when they accidentally broke the UV bulb during the furnace relocation and didn't notify me and when they kept coming out telling me they don't smell anything. Make sure you have a family member, friend or neighbor with you when people come to work on your home.
National were extremely responsive, polite and professional. They sent someone out on the same day that I called and he diagnosed and repaired the air conditioning within 2 hours. I'm sure that it would it would've been faster, but the other company had disconnected some wires and he needed to trace and reconnect them.
Awesome service! I will definitely use National again to service and repair my air conditioning.
