MHI is run by a married couple where the husband is the contractor, the wife does the communications with the clients. I was not very pleased with the work they have done at my place. After he is done with the project, I had to call up another contractor to correct some of the lousy work they have done. I wrote them, and sent them pictures of the sloppy work they have done, received apologetic e-mails, even he wanted to stop by and fix some of the things. However, I was upset and fed up dealing with them and I said "No". I would not recommend them to a friend. If you like to receive a nice postcard after a lousy job done at your house, you can work with them. The thank you card I received a week after the work was done, made me smile.
Description of Work: 2nd floor bathroom remodeling included instaling a shower stall, necessary plumbing, installation of bathroom fan and minor electrical work.

He spent 1.5 hours with me asking questions about what we wanted in the project during our first meeting so that he could create as accurate an estimate as possible. He and his wife take pride of the fact that he does one job at a time and stays on the job himself with his men. He has high standards for himself and his workmen. He and his wife "held my hand" through the process, so that it ran smoothly: He gave me deadlines for each step of the process such as when I had to decide on flooring, cabinetry, counter tops, electrical, etc., which made the process much less overwhelming along the way. He had the kitchen dismantled for the minimum amount of time possible so that my family would be as little inconvenienced as possible. He was open-minded as to what I wanted and also offered objective professional opinions when asked.
Description of Work: Total reconstruction of existing kitchen which was ripped out and made into a dining room; then added 12X26' addition for the new kitchen and family den which had a cathedral ceiling with sky light. Reshingled existing roof when new roof was shingled; Vinyl sided entire ranch home. He gladly gave a separate estimate for the siding and roof and he did not mind that our family wanted to do the interior painting. He was always flexible, caring and took great pride in his work. He is a detail person.

Kristen - wife and salesperson - discussed project with me and assured me of "upscale" standards. Quoted project with Chris - husband and construction person. Addressed my concerns. Guaranteed my satisfaction and that they would do more than promised. They did that - including tracking mud into house, damaging microwave while using my kitchen for their lunch, etc. Quality of work was so bad that the RI Contractors Board had to threaten them with losing their license unless they resolved at least major issues. Those issues included straightening one of the walls of the new garage (it was built with a curve in it), fixing the new bathtub so bath and shower worked separately, fixing drainage and leakage on new garage, etc. 4-week project took 4 months and I still spent thousands of dollars on other contractors to fix problems and redo finish work. Refused to honor some written promises. Work did not hit "handyman" standards. Professionalism was much lower! Not worth suing, but wanted to.
Description of Work: Existing garage was finished as interior room with hardwood floor, heat, finished walls and ceiling. New two-car garage was added. Master bathroom was gutted and remodeled with shower and whirlpool tub combination, new tile floors and walls, new toilet, sink, vanity, cabinets, electric heat on timer, etc.
