The work was performed in a fairly timely manner. Although upon moving back into my home on January 1, 2011(9 months after the flood) I noticed some discrepancies in the bill as well as problems with the breakers tripping almost on a weekly basis. I actually still owed the company $438.73 but, was not willing to pay the balance until the owner of the company went over the final bill with me. I called the company numerous times(have copies of cell phone bills as proof) only to be told by the office staff that the owner would get back to me. Twice I spoke with the owner's son who did nothing but give me a difficult time.
At first I only noticed a couple of discrepancies but, as the year passed and J & J did not respond to my calls I took a closer look at the bill and noticed many discrepancies. I sent a certified detailed letter to J & J Electric as well as the Rhode Island Attorney General listing my concerns/questions.
They are:
1.One of the telephone outlets has wires that are exposed and it does not work(see picture).
2. I was charged for 4 smoke detectors and 3 carbon/smoke combos. I actually have 2 carbon/smoke and 5 regular detectors. This is an additional $29.25 difference in price.
3. I only have 2 cable jacks. I am being charged for 3. An additional $69.49 charge.
4. I believe I only have only 3 recessed lights(?). I am being charged for 5. An additional 109.72 charge.
5. I have only 3 closet strips(lights). I am being charged for 4. An additional $36.47 charge.
6. Almost on a weekly basis, one of the circuit breakers(not always the same one) trips. I don't believe this is normal.
7. The circuit to the pool filter does not work all the time. It needs to be switched back & forth numerous times before it will work.
8. What is 7 "keyless"? Do I really have this?
9. How are the switches/outlets counted? The original estimate was for 88 and the final bill was 99. An additional $271.00 charge.
10. There is a light switch in the master bedroom that after a year I still do not know what it belongs to(I have tried every outlet in the room).
11. What is CAD 5? I am being charged for 2. I believe this should be CAT 5(from what a general contactor told me) and they are outlets for an internet connection(similar to a phone outlet). I do not see these any where in my home. It was brought to my attention that this is CAT 5(not CAD5) and they are outlets similar to a phone outlet but, they are used to connect internet service. J & J did not install these in my home.
12. The Town of Coventry was charging 1/2 price($30.00) for permits for flood victims. J & J Electric charged me $180.00. While I realize someone had to go get the permit, I think the charge was a little high.
I did file a complaint with the Rhode Island Attorney General and they received a response from J & J's attorney not admitting any fault but, did enclose a check to me in the amount of $438.73(the amount that I still owed them). This does not make any since to me - I owe them, but they pay me. I was not looking for a payment. What I am looking for an explanation of the things I have been charged for and whether or not all the work was actually performed. Also, an explanation as to why the breakers trip all the time and to have the telephone outlet(w/wires exposed) fixed.
6/15/12 - I called and spoke w/ Jerry Sr. on 6/11/12 and voiced my concerns again about the above complaint. He said he will call me back the next day. Here it is 11 days later and he still ahs not called me back. Bad businessman!

The work itself went well. I had one issue where a short time after they had finished I had to have them come back to fix something. They didn't charge me extra for it. Sometime later the main breaker failed and I had to have someone else come to fix it because I couldn't reach them.

There is a 12 foot serving counter in the kitchen. I have 5 different holes for a phone jack, a cable TV outlet, 2 electrical outlets and a light switch. They didn't group them together, though they had been grouped together on the design. I'm looking at having it all ripped out and re-done. Their planning was awful. House was under construction, so I wasn't really a witness to their responsiveness or punctuality. They didn't follow the electrical plan.

Price is the best attribute of this company. Scheduling and communication could use improvement. Had to call 5-6 times to get an appointment- did not return phone calls promptly. Confusion with messages. There are 2 Jerry's Jr. & Sr. They did not call as asked to confirm appt- just showed up.

THEY MUST HAVE DONE A GOOD JOB BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS WORKING CORRECTLY. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THEM AND THEIR RESULTS. I ALSO THOUGHT THAT THE PRICE WAS VERY REASONABLE FOR ALL THE HARD WORK THEY DID.

THE ELECTRICIAN THAT DID THE WORK FOR ME WAS VERY GOOD. I CALLED HIM, AND HE WAS HERE THE NEXT DAY TO FIX MY OUTLET. I WILL HAVE HIM DO MORE WORK IN THE FUTURE BECAUSE I WAS VERY SATISFIED WITH EVERYTHING.
