Joe "the retired clockmaker" first gave me a fairly good estimate over the phone, (based on the age and size and type of click) then came to my home, explained the entire procedure, length of time it would take to fix, the inner workings of the clock, (extremely knowledgeable AND very passionate about what he does, very obvious, and rare these days - so refreshing!), he then took the clock to his workshop, took about 2 1/2 weeks (1 week of which he told us ahead of time was to put the clock on his wall to observe that it was running properly after he fixed it). He gave us a one year warranty on his work on the click repair, and said clock should run another 13 years!

Talk about a professional, this is a guy who loves what he does and is exceptionally good. Not only is he knowledgeable in his craft, but he takes the time to teach you the do's and don'ts of what you should be doing to maintain the longevity of your clock. I have a thirty year old Grandfather clock and I was doing things that I thought wouldn't not be harmful to the clock, such as, moving the minute hand counter clockwise to get to the right time, i.e. daylight saving time etc. Again, he took time explaining details that would improve the operation of the clock. I'm a fan of the Old West movies, and one thing that comes across in these films is the personalization they all had with each other, you walk into the General Store and you were greeted warmly and always a story to tell, this is what you get with Joe, high end service, advise, and a story about the good old days.
