Excellent! Robert Downing was referred to my by Kevin F. Gonsalves (whom I found on Angie's), but was not able to do the job himself. Robert was very quick to respond and we discussed the repair work I needed to have done. Due to the height of my chimney there were a few questions I was unable to answer. Robert drove out the next day to take a look at the chimney - he had an estimate for me that evening. I thought the estimate was more than fair for the work needed. The job required staging in addition to the repairs. The finished job was excellent - I went up on the roof to get a close-up look myself. He actually went above what was expected and did an excellent job repairing and reviving my chimney. He cleaned the roof thoroughly from any residue so it would not stain the roofing shingles too. He tested the repair, before leaving, to make sure it was sealed properly. After a couple heavy rainstorms I'm happy to see the chimney is repaired. Also worth mentioning, I had a liner being installed for a new wood stove the day Robert had planned to finish this job. Robert was kind enough to leave the staging up for the wood stove installers to help make their job much easier. They were very, very happy to see the staging when they arrived. Bottom line, I would highly recommend Robert Downing. If we have the money in the spring, we hope to be contacting him again for patio and walkway projects we hope to have done.

Robert met my dad at my house and provided a quote on the first day and came and completed the job on the second day.  Very fast service.  I did not have the chance to meet Robert, as my dad was the main person in contact, but according to my dad he was very professional and timely.  Great work as well!  I am very happy with the end result work!

I initially called Kevin Gonsalves, a mason I found on Angie's list to have my chimney re-pointed. He said his schedule was full for the near future so he took my phone number and said he would have Robert Downing call me in the next day or two. Robert called the next day to get my address and ask what work I wanted done. He said he would drive by the next morning to inspect the chimney and would call with an estimate. He called with an estimate of $1800 & two days to do the work I wanted done and said he could fix some other deficiencies he saw in the chimney for an additional $400. I told him I wanted to do the $1800 part of the job but I would call him back after I inspected the chimney more closely to see if I needed the additional $400 of work. After inspecting the chimney myself I called Robert back to say I did not see the need for the extra work. He said he would then just complete the original work and if he noticed anything when he had a closer look while he was working he would call me discuss. Robert came to my house on the agreed upon date and finished the work in one day. He called later that night to give me a new cost of $1700 and to say if I inspected his work and was satisfied could I please leave a check for him in my mailbox. I paid Robert and am planning on using him again.
