The cost of service is part of our service contract. They are a good company. We have been using them since 2006.

This is a lengthy review, so in short, I would advise anyone to check social media for this company and also to speak to anyone in South County.  There are many unbelievable stories.  It is really sad to see what has become of what was once a reputable company.  It is almost as if the owner is trying to put himself out of business. The owner is childish, vindictive and crude-customer service is pathetic-service is either not done or not done properly.
In January, 2015 there was a blizzard forecast.  I realized that I had not had oil delivered in over a month, and since my fuel gauge did not work, I called for a delivery the next morning.  The woman was the most unprofessional and rudest customer service rep that I have ever dealt with.  She told me I would get oil but would get a delivery fee since it was not time for a delivery and if I didn't get a certain amount of oil.  I argued the fee as I did not feel it was justified and the fuel gauge was never fixed so I had no way of knowing how much oil I had.  I had been a customer for almost 20 years, had automatic delivery and always paid my bills on time.  When I came home from work that day, there was no meter ticket and with no functional fuel gauge I could not tell if I had received oil.  I called the office back and was told that " you will get your d*** oil".    They never came that day and I emailed the owner about the service.  He called back the day after the storm and told me that oil was delivered and that I should not complain or threaten to go to social media.  He started to talk about that being that being scandalous and that if I contacted him again about this, that would be harassment.  I tried to tell him the story as he had the story wrong, but he then just started yelling at me that 'no-you will listen to me !"  After a few minutes of him bellowing at me, I was able to get a sentence in. I told him there was no delivery ticket and that the gauge was never fixed at the last service (almost a year ago).  There was no way that I could know if I had oil.  If I had a delivery, perhaps his receptionist should have told me that when I had called back. He said he would get the gauge fixed right away. After getting off the phone, he called back.  I was too upset to talk to him so my son answered. He told my son that a meter ticket was at the door.  My son was at the door (which I had already checked before even calling his office back.  My son said it was not there and then the owner yelled at my son!!  "Look harder" he said.  His manner was loud, rude, unprofessional and totally 'over the top',  I had simply called for a delivery-just wanted to put some money in his pocket-and it has turned into the biggest nightmare. After calling other agencies, the problem is still not resolved.  Thankfully, my service contract has expired and I have a wonderful person to work on it who has taken on quite a few of former customers of SmithCo.  I also have a company lined up to receive oil from when my cap agreement expires in another month.  The fuel gauge is still not fixed.  His secretary had called to make an appointment to fix it, but called the day before saying that the service man went home sick, would not be in the next day  and they would have to reschedule.  (They have a few servicemen-not just one.)  When I called to reschedule, they gave me an appointment almost a month away-A DAY AFTER THE SERVICE CONTRACT EXPIRED.
I also had looked at Better Business Bureau and I saw a complaint and then filed my own.  They got no results about the delivery fee nor the gauge.  BBB sent me an email saying my complaint would be posted.  When it wasn't, I inquired about it.  I was told that since the owner of SmithCo responds with a pdf-complaints cannot be published.
I would recommend anyone who thinks of doing business with this company to check social media-BBB, Angie's List, Yelp and others.  His customer service woman is pathetic and the worst I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. (Similar complaints are on social media-she is becoming famous for her rude manner.)
His service is poor and sometimes non existent. Not someone to count on in an emergency.
His oil prices are always 10-40cents higher than anyone in the area.  Prices are always posted daily online by New England Oil and other sources.
When I cancelled my contract at the appropriate time, I expressly said that under no circumstances did I want anyone from that company on my property with no one home.  I requested 24 hour notice.  He came anyway to deliver oil on the last day that he possibly could of my contract.
WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE TO DEAL WITH.

We just recently switched to them and their service has been great. We were completely satisfied. Each of the people that has come to our house has known what he was talking about. We were really getting a run around from our old company, and my husband had a conversation with a young woman at that company where she actually lied. She gave him false information about how the prices is set. He gave that company feedback, and then he just said, "We got to find somebody new." And this company really fits our needs perfectly.

The installation was very professionally and promptly done. We are absentee owners and felt confident enough to allow the company into the home to perform the work without us on site.
