The fireplace looks great, but smoke from the fireplace back feeds into the house and fills the basement with smoke causing fire alarms to go off on the 2nd and 3rd floors.  One of the three sets of brick steps installed has separated from the house.  Most importantly, I have called David countless times and at first he accepted my calls, especially when I had cobblestone curbing additional work to be done and to give him my sister in-laws' number to repoint her chimney in Worcester, MA, but he has not returned my calls in three years to resolve the other problems.  I am a small business owner myself and I do not leave bad feedback without giving the vendor a chance to mediate the situation, but I cannot even get him to call me back.  Additionally, he will not call the builder that built my house back either.  Lastly, he collected money from the job I sent him at my sister in laws and the pointing job was done wrong and the chimney has since leaked.  He would not call her back either.  Not a good vendor to deal with.  Very bad experience.

UPDATE - 1-13-2014

We invited an independent mason into look at the fireplace and chimney and flu.  The following deficiencies and construction defects were noted:

-oil burner chimney is 8x8" and it should be 9x12", thimble is not inside the flu nor sealed into it allowing smoke leakage into the chimney structure

-fireplace flu has numerous joints that are not connected (2" gaps between sections), has a "HUGE" lip between firebox and the flu itself with a huge gap into the chimney structure, and the thimble is not inside the flu nor is it sealed into it allowing smoke leakage into the chimney structure

-the basement wood stove thimble is not inside the flu nor is it sealed into it allowing for smoke leakage into the chimney structure
