Making the appointment was easy and they were very accommodating.  They provided a one hour window that the technician was to arrive and he came right on time. I feel their rate was reasonable and the tech wasn't trying to sell us other services or things we didn't need.  If I have trouble with my heating service in the future, I will certainly call them

After my old company was bought out and service declined significantly, I interviewed with several oil providers.

Nite oil is reasonable in price. They have a pretty diligent service operation and do things well like scheduling the inspection prior to an initial fill that afternoon. Unlike other vendors they're responsive if you call in the morning. They strongly prefer you to be on automatic credit card payment. They're not as aggressive about filling as other vendors -- I've gotten pretty low and felt necessary to call them, however I was scheduled the next day or two each time. Also can result in a huge bill for nearly an entire tank. But shows how efficient they are. They strongly encouraged I replace my boiler and made a long list of (probably true) problems. Didn't seem a big deal, though, that I wasn't interested that year. They were pretty reasonable around an emergency repair I had to do myself (a valve that is never used had to be closed as part of emergency maintenance and then exploded when I tried to tighten the packing after leaking significantly) and didn't dismiss it out of hand just because they hadn't performed the work.

No gimmicks around service contracts. They don't do them. All the service prices have seemed reasonable so far.

Tech arrived exactly on time. Service was completed within one hour. Oil boiler operates well. labor charges are I think $60/hr normal hours and $70/hr others times. I don't think they offer a service contract. Nite Oil fuel oil prices are not the lowest, but usually in the bottom 25% of providers in prices. Also, if any household member is 62 or older, ask for the senior 2 cent per gallon discount. Nite Oil is very good about same day fuel delivery if you discover you are running on empty. Just call first thing in morning. Also note, there is a 5 cent surcharge per gallon for fuel deliveries under 150 gallons.

Nite Oil Company visited to check on our boiler. They have cleaned it 3 times for us so far. Every time, they have been prompt and professional. When additional parts have been necessary or anything is out of the ordinary, the Nite OIl employee has always been very clear in explaining the needed repairs. They have also been trustworthy - not charging for things that did not need attention.

They were fast and professional, from the first contact phone call to the filling of my tank at the end.

The price is a little high. However I rate the service highly.
