While they were putting in the window in the kitchen, I noticed that it did not line up correctly and mentioned it to him. He said the frame was not even. So I suggested to him that regardless of the frame, the window should be even and couldn't he use a shim or something. He said he could and did so; but still the window is somewhat off and does not line up unless it is locked. Needless to say, the window is often left open and does not look good because it is not lined up. He had to put fillers in all the windows and also put in a small window sill to fill in the area in front of that window but had to run to Home Depot to buy wood to do so. He installed that sill with two pieces of wood instead of one, and it separated before he left, so he put some glue in the crack; and to this day it is still separated. Another of the windows was covered with some substance that he scraped off when I mentioned it, and then he said it was about 90% off. Stupidly we paid in full with the assurance that if there were any problems he would take care of them with a lifetime service warranty. Eventually we went to the window manufacturer and they replaced that window. I now realize that we should never have paid him until we were sure we were satisfied with the windows and the work. Eventually my husband and I decided that he had done such a lousy job that we did not even want him to come back at all. So, we had someone else repair the window that was separating from the frame, and the others remain as they were put in, including being very drafty, and none of them line up correctly unless they are locked. Of course once the windows are in, one has no choice but to accept them; as you cannot say they are not acceptable and have the original ones put back in. One becomes a victim of the installer. We are very upset and want others to know that the job that was done was not good at all and hopefully prevent others from using this contractor. The follow-up service was nonexistent. Also while he was working on the outside of the windows, my home wreaked of cigarette smoke, as he smoked as he worked; and of course it came through the window openings into my home. To us, the work is inadequate and the contractor is very unprofessional.
