I got a few estimates, and Joe not only provided the lowest estimate, but came recommended by neighbors. He was friendly and prompt in his responses. He fit this relatively small job into his schedule quickly, and the workers did a nice job and left things tidy and clean.

I received Joe Almeida's name from A Stone in Johnston. I was impressed by their store and their helpfulness. I called Joe and did not hear from him for a week. I didn't think he was going to call. But when he called on a Saturday morning he was at my house within a half hour.
I could tell right away he knew what he was talking about. He knew exactly the stone I had chosen at A Stone. He said he needed to pour a concrete foundation to bear the weight of the stone that was 4-5 inches and very heavy.
He gave me a great price that included all materials and labor. He could start in a few days. I gave him the go ahead the next day. He built me a sample of the two options we had- a dry stack without mortar or with mortar. I was really impressed that he did this for me. The job was completed within a week. He had two helpers. He showed up every day early and worked late some nights.
Joe is one of the best contractors I have hired. He is extremely pleasant, conscientious and his work was meticulous. The house looks fantastic!!
I believe his responsiveness is based on how busy he is and how big the job is. Once you get through to him you are in good hands.

Based on recommendations from Angie's list and a stone distributor, we contacted 2 stone masons for estimates to build a patio with pavers for our backyard where an existing deck was. We hired Joe Almeida because he gave us the best price and seemed very eager to get the job.

I could not be more pleased with the end result. I never thought I would have such a beautiful patio and steps. Joe started the job on Friday and removed the deck. There was some delay due to weather and unavailability of materials but once they began work the following Tuesday, work progressed quickly. Joe and his team were extremely professional and hard-working. I was home most of the time that they worked and I was impressed by their efficiency and attention to detail.

Joe had some ideas about the design of the patio and I'm glad I took his advice, it gave the patio an expensive look. The two men he worked with were super nice and polite. When they finished the job, they cleaned up and seeded the area around the patio. They were very clean - the yard looks better than it did when they started. They did not smoke so there were no cigarette butts left behind which I have experienced in the past. They did a tremendous job from start to finish and I would recommend them highly.

The time from start to finish was reasonable, about a week and a half. My only disappointment was the cost of the driveway cobble stone work. It was more expensive than I anticipated. I would get the job broken down into parts in the future. The quality of the work and the materials was excellent.

We have a very long driveway, so the price was not inexpensive, but well worth the money. They were prompt, came when they said they would and completed the job on time. The final cost was the price the originally quoted. They did a good job at fitting all of the stones together. When they finished they graded the yard where they had worked and seeded the area. Everything was cleaned up very well and the new grass survived the rough winter. It looks like it did before they started.
