"We received an initial quote from Harris & Co. based on a recommendation from a coworker to replace a backyard deck with a stone patio. I received three quotes from various contractors. Harris's quote was the most expensive but I went with Joshua Harris's company anyway for the following reasons: * Joshua had a complete treatment that included landscaping (which ultimately I did not do), pavers, lowering of the ground, demolition, fire pit, and seating wall. * They were responsive, using text and email and replying promptly. * Joshua Harris had a better vision for the project than I did! He envisioned a wall, lighting, making the patio extremely large (due to the limited space in the backyard, he thought that leaving a bit of grass would be pretty pointless). Ultimately, it was the completeness of the vision that drew me to use his service. Since he does landscaping, lighting, and tons of stuff, Joshua will give you a pretty complete treatment. This costs you. I think that you get what you pay for, but it's something to keep in mind. If you have a budget, keep your discipline and see what aspects that you can go without! That all said, we went all out for this project and added a long wall, accent pavers, a large fire pit, and lighting. This was an extremely expensive project for us, but it's been worth it as the end result is rather beautiful and makes the space much more usable. Before, we wouldn't even leave out the back door because the deck was so small and the yard was so dreary, but the large 28' stone patio makes the space inviting and easy to walk across, even when we're not entertaining. As for the work, I was impressed by the amount of communication that was provided. They contacted me almost every day to let me know if they were going to arrive to work and informed me if circumstances (usually rain, sometimes illness) affected the schedule. Joshua was overall very professional. There were occasionally circumstances though that affected what could be done at any point - for example a certain model of lamp I requested wasn't available, so I had to get a different one; in another case one of the bulbs burned out and I had to reach out to get it replaced. The final thing is that Joshua follows through. The mulch for the back was delayed due to an inventory issue and I hadn't heard from him after the work for a number of weeks, but then he called me when the items came back in and scheduled the follow-up. The point is: if you need something from him, don't be afraid to reach out. The work was quite costly but I think that you get what you pay for and when you go with Harris & Co., you get a lot."

I also love fixing things...and repairing that which is repairable. Bathtub tile walls and walls and floors in showers are nearly all repairable…it’s what I specialize in…the young guys never learned ‘repair’, just wreck out the old and build it new…that’s an option for me, but not the only one. While holding a degree in business management from URI, I have been operating a small home remodeling business for the last thirty years, primarily in building bathrooms. I am fully licensed and Insured. My business has always consisted generally of just myself. Honestly, I prefer doing everything myself if I can…I do all the supporting carpentry for my tile and stonework, that is, sub-flooring, wall building, and countertop preparation…my tile work is expert and some years ago I won an award from The Providence Preservation Society…that was for restoration work in an old and wonderful east side home ! "My wife and I hired many subcontractors to complete a large addition to our house. Belcastro Electric was easily the best experience we had with our subcontractors. The companies owner Andy came out to our project and provided a timely and accurate bid of what the job would cost. He provided many helpful suggestions on lighting choice and switch placement to make the best practical flow when switching on and off room lights on a daily basis. He balanced the newly upgrade circuit panel and subpanel perfectly so we get no flicker even when our 50 amp mini-split system kicks on for us. This was a large issue our neighbor had when installing the same mini-split system as us but used a different electrical that simply added on but did no take the extra time to balance their panel properly so they get light dimming and flicker when their minis come on which is annoying for them. Our ceiling fans and pot lights look great. His crew is professional and arrive in clean well stocked vans. I was amazed at the inventory of stuff they were able to pull of these vans as they wired both high voltage and low voltage equipment they had multiple wall plates and connectors for us the pick from when setting up TV, stereo, phone, and internet. The thing that stands out most about Belcastro electric was Andy's ability to get extra crew here when needed. We had a time crunch for inspection and Andy was able to get 4 guys on my project to finish a day early. If you have a project you want done right, on time, and on budget then hire these guys. Trust me not all subcontractors we hired went this well. 5 stars would use again. -Matt"

"I have bought appliances from Yale for 3 different houses over the past 15 years. Most recently bought over $65k worth of appliances because I had good experiences before. This time, one of the appliances - a Yale-branded icemaker - was broken out of the box at delivery. Asked to have it replaced, they said no - I had accepted delivery so they would have to repair it. They scheduled an appointment to do so, then canceled it because part was not available, and replaced with an appointment scheduled a month later (which they scheduled without asking if it worked.) I sat and waited, technician came and said part wasn't available, he knew he wasn't going to be able to fix it, but came anyway because there was an appointment. Looked over the unit, told me his supervisor would call that afternoon, and he left. No call. I called back the following Monday, and spoke to 2 different who said they weren't able to help, but a supervisor would call. When he did, he said they had no part for it, no eta for the part to be delivered, and had no units in stock to replace it, but that even if they did that wasn't covered by the warranty so too bad. No apology for the wasted appointment, and in a very dishonest way tried to say that the first appointment is always diagnostic, even though it was specifically rescheduled by them because part was backordered. Said that they deserved the opportunity to fix it instead of replace it, and when I told them they'd more than had that opportunity over a period of months, including the appointment they'd just had, he got upset and said a number of things that were offensive and that there was no path forward for resolution."
