I brought them my computer. They tagged it and I paid them in advance for a diagnostic.
After 2 days, not a word from them. I called them and nobody could tell me anything other than that the technician was not in. He called me back later to say that he had not looked at it yet.
The next day, an individual claiming to be a technician called me and reported that my computer was kaput. (See above.)
I went to retrieve my computer and the clerk refused to release it to me until I signed a statement indemnifying the store from any damage resulting from their work. I asked to speak to the manager to which he refused; he then grabbed the computer out of my reach so that I could not just leave with my own property. I demanded to speak to the manager.
A man claiming to be in charge arrived in response to my loud voice. He said that they could not be responsible for software loss. I explained that was not my concern but rather concern that they had monkey-wrenched my computer. I agreed to sign indemnifying them from software damage.
I read over the statement, added a clause making clear the limits of indemnification and signed it. Another "manager" arrived and refused to release my computer unless I signed the statement without the added clause. I reluctantly signed under duress.
I finally took my computer to an honest repair shop to find that they had not monkey wrenched my computer; they merely lied to me in order to sell me a computer instead.
