"Cho's Electronics told customer that high voltage transformer for her picture tube set was no longer available from manufacturer and she was willing to wait till we found any surplus or after market part. we spent lot of money and time to save her tv, although we could not get the part. we refunded$75 deposit she made upon job approval. She was told $35 estimate charge that was not refundable at the time she brought in the tv for repair. TV sets or stereos are normally stays open disassembled to save time until repaired. Customer came in without notice told us she wanted to take her tv out. we told her it was not put together. customer said she would take it out the way it was, so she took it out with $75 refund check and signed receipt. I know we are not perfect but are very responsive to customer's needs. I do acknowledge there were quite a bit of delays but we already informed her of part was no longer available from manufacturer and she told us she was willing to wait. I know I can not change her mind but at least I should explain the process it involved. Cho's Electronics is BBB Accredited member with A+ rating, actively engages to improve customer service with refund policy if sets or units repaired fails twice with same problem."
A few years later I saw them starring on our local news. WJAR channel 10 in Providence did an expose story on local repair rip offs, using hidden cameras. The station went into this company and brought in an electronic device with its parts secretly marked up. You needed a special blue light to see the markings. Cho's billed them for a replacement part that the station said was never replaced. showed where the new "replaced part" had the markings they had put on it before they took it in. They went into the store with a camera crew and confronted them - the store people denied everything. That whole scenario looked very famaliar to me. It aired during sweeps week. Somehow, they're still there.... I'll never use them as long as I live.
