Premier Landscape performed a removal and installation of a curved retaining wall. Overall, I was very pleased with the product and process and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking to perform outdoor work. Premier Landscape is not a low-cost landscaper. However, he does offer a fair price quote based on market value. The customer service that you get from Gairad (the owner) and his crew is outstanding and makes up for the small amount of money you would save from a low-cost landscaper. From the start Gairad was very responsive to e-mails. Usually you will get a response within 24 hours on a business day. I was able to send him pictures and dimensions and he was able to give me a quote from that. You would think that this would be a standard practice for other landscapers in the area, but you would be wrong. Most other landscapers did not respond to me either by e-mail or phone. The ones that do will try to give you a quote that is vague. They do this in order to extract more money from change orders. Once you get them to include every detail you want on the quote, you start to see it add up to almost the same cost. Gairad doesn’t play any of those games, he puts all of your request in a quote and gives his price. His men arrived on time and performed a great installation of the retaining wall. They used good quality materials and made sure the physical appearance looked good. After calling Premier Landscape and having Girard to the house to provide a quote, his team was able to start work within days and completed the job far quicker then my husband and I thought possible. The guys were extremely professional, on time, did great work removing trees/shrubs, refilling holes, cleaning drainage effected from the shrub removal, and leaving the yard looking pristine. Cannot wait to work with them in the future for design!

It could not have gone better!  I had a very serious drainage problem that resulted from my general contractor, who apparently had no proper excavation training, grading a multitude of times and then by my use of a small landscaping company (that was in over their head) to grade, spread loam and seed my entire yard.  My drainage problems began when the general contractor tore up my rear yard for an addition and then to bury electrical, generator and propane tank pipes and wiring.  He re-graded so many times he mixed the top level of incredibly rich loam, with the sandy loam, shale and other deeply buried non-growing and stony soil that should have remained far below the surface. When he failed to properly grade, clean the soil, spread loam and seed as promised by early fall of 2014, I needed to bring in someone else to do the job or I would have to live through another winter with mud instead of grass surrounding my home. Although I had received a very detailed, accurate, honest and realistic estimate for the job from DeCastro back then, I made the mistake of instead going with a landscaper who had done a great job of mowing and trimming trees at a neighbor?s for more than a decade, but who ultimately was not capable of properly doing the job.  And even though I expressed concern on three separate occasions about the fact that he was grading the soil downward towards the rear of my home, The landscaper assured me that when my new gutters (old ones had been removed for the remodel) were installed and the grass grew, I would not have a drainage problem, I did.  When the landscaper finished, my grass grew and my gutters were installed but during every heavy rain, I had so much water running down against the rear of my house it would actually breach the foundation and pour into the formerly finished cellar.  I installed two electric pumps outside to move the water away from the house, but during flood-watch intensity rains, I still had water intrusions.   The landscaper who graded so poorly wanted to install French drains, but after seeing the results of his initial efforts, not to mention his original as well as significant cost increases, I would not consider giving him another shot, so this time I called the company I should have gone with a year earlier, DeCastro Landscaping.
Matt Smith from DeCastro assessed the situation, pointed out the water coming down against my foundation was actually coming from as far away as from my neighbor?s on another (and higher elevation) street and recommended installation of a 100 foot swale, as well as to bury a pipe through which the gutter drain pipe water on that side of the house would be carried away from the back of the house.  The job required some excavation, installation, removal of the excavated soil, installation of a long series of drainage pipe, as well as all connectors and fittings, re-grading and contouring of the soil, applying top soil to the swale, and installation of sod to the new swale.   Matt provided a detailed and reasonable priced written estimate within a few days and in tandem with the observations he had made, his professional demeanor and his honesty, I knew for the first time in a long time, I did not need to get an estimate from anyone else because I wanted DeCastro to do the job.
The DeCastro crew (Jake, Jeff and Tom) showed up when they were scheduled, worked hard, were exacting in every aspect of their responsibilities, used the highest quality materials and were nothing short of meticulous in how they accomplished the job.  Unlike my experience with my general contractor and his people, the DeCastro/Premiere Landscaping professionals were careful when digging and working around pipes, cables and wires, did not cause any damage and did not leave even one stone behind when they cleaned up.  The excavation, drain pipe installation, contouring, and excess soil removal were accomplished on day one and on day two the sod installation was done. They continually used their laser and visual inspections to layout and maintain the most efficient and esthetically pleasing design for the swale, as well as to contour the existing soil against the rear of my house, to maximize natural surface drainage and to eliminate duture interior water intrusions.  On day two Gairad DeCastro, the owner came by to ensure the job was being accomplished to his high standards as well as to make certain I was completely satisfied.  As I told him that day, I wasn?t just completely satisfied with their work, I could not have been happier with any aspect of the job.  In truth, the DeCastro crew are the finest of professionals, their work is impeccable and the swale they created is not only a work of art, but has reinforced my instinct that if you are not completely happy with someone you have working at your home, get someone else sooner rather than later.  I had become too accepting of mediocre work and continual excuses as a result of my remodel and general contractor, so I had lowered my standards and begun not-trusting my instincts when it came to subpar work.  But because there are professionals out there like the folks from DeCastro, who actually care about doing things to the highest professional standards and making the experience something completely positive for the customer, there is no reason to accept substandard work or never ending excuses from contractors who do not perform.  
We?ve had some very heavy rains for several days now and my new swale has performed as well as it was designed.  It is working flawlessly, effortlessly, I no longer feel anxiety or fear of heavy rains and what flood watch rain will do to my back yard or cellar, because the heaviest of rains are no longer a fear or threat. 
I cannot overstate the technical, professional or representation abilities of the DeCastro/Permiere Landscaping personnel as they are truly exemplary.  I could not be happier with their work, I give them the highest of recommendations and my only regret is that I did not bring them in at the earliest opportunity.  They are simply the best.

After contacting several "contractors" off google and craigslist, I grew frustrated by the questionable character of the folks who responded and was exasperated by the wide rage of price quotes and payment schemes.  I decided to invest in Angie's List to try and sort through the dross to find the best quality service out there.  So glad I did.  I was impressed with DeCastro/Premiere from the start.  Matt the project manager showed up and was presentable, intelligent and walked through all my options with suggestions of how to upgrade some of my projects while keeping costs down.  He provided a detailed project plan with each line item explaining the work and associated cost.  The crew was also very professional and personable.  No cave men.  They worked hard and steady and met all my expectations.  I would highly recommend this outfit and look forward to using them again.

very nice people to work with.  professional, good communicators, hard workers, punctual, etc.  From a personality standpoint and as a business they are a pleasure to work with.  However, their weak spot is their materials.  In my opinion, their trees, bushes, plants, etc are all sub par.  We've had multiple plants, trees, bushes, and grasses die- flowers, grasses, etc.  The shockers is that they do not guarantee any of their plants.  I've never heard of a landscaper or nursery who doesn't guarantee their plants- especially when you spend 15k with them.  We were able to work something out where they replaces some for free but we paid to have them replace the rest.  We came out of the second winter with even more things dieing off.   I know we've had a couple hard winters since the planting, but I have seen other yards with the same plants/trees doing just fine.  in one area, we have 4 boxwoods in a row, 1 from decastro and 3 from another nursery- all planted at the same time.  coming out of this winter guess which one is dead.  Again, very nice guys to work with.  but the fact is that a disproportionate amount of their plantings have not survived or are anemic.  Sidenote- I had them do another job at another house I own and those bushes are anemic as well.  sitting right next to another bush that I got from another nursery which is full and thriving- that proves a pattern.

Came as requested - I was at work, but he knocked on the door and spoke with my son.  The property was immaculate when I came home and he had left the bill with my son.  I was very pleased

The company's work is fine and they are very reliable. They do just what is asked, nothing more.

A crew of three workers showed up three days early before 7:15am. Suprised me when I went out the door. They completed most of the grunt work that day and showed up the next day with a mini excavator and pulled out the huge shrubs in a matter of 10 minutes.
Happy with the prompt service, but these guys are so quite I didn't even know they had arrived. All the workers seem easy going.
As an added surprise, they edged around the house foundation and driveway to make the rest of the property look neat. I know no big deal, but a nice touch.
