Tree Service
Henry, licensed and bonded, came to give an estimate within a day or two of my calling. Both he and his wife, (who works both as his rerceptionist and as his partner in the field) are very nice and easy to talk with. Henry listened carefully to what I wanted done, told me how he would do it, and gave me a very reasonable estimate of $175. It was getting to be somewhat late in the fall. I told him that we would like for him to do it but that we were in no great hurry. I figured that he probably had other jobs lined up and that snowy, icey weather was on its way. During the first half of March, he called and set up a day to do the work. He came at 10:00 am on March 20, as he had said he would. He had rememered well (or had kept excellent notes) about everything I had told him that I had wanted done. He even reminded my husband that I wanted the apple logs saved for my sons to use in smoking meat. Henry also told us that ash wood is dry so can be burned with only a few weeks of seasoning; he saved logs of ash for us. Henry and his wife moved and worked as smoothly as clockwork in getting our job done. Henry seems to be very knowledgeable and very skillful. He knows the value of tools that are very sharp and in good repair. He used the long-handled hand-pruner on the maples, the chain saw(on the appletrunks and ash logs, and the bucket truck to trim the large ash branches. Henry and his wife both seem to be safety-conscious. It was amazing to me what quick work he made of trimming the maples, skillfully cutting and dropping the branches,; and how carefully, darting with the bucket among the branches of both the ash and its nearby neighbor, our dogwood, he removed and lowered the correct branches. During all the work he was very careful. Not a thing was damaged - not our chain-link fence, not the newly-sprouting plants around the trees and in front of the fence, not a branch of the dogwood nor a branch of the ash not intended to be cut. Branches wrere cut correctly, so as not to tear bark from the trunks. Cuts were clean so that healing of the tree could take place. Pads were used under the bucket-truck wheels to insure that no ruts were put into our lawn. Henry and his wife well-cleaned and neatened the area using a rake, broom, and leaf-blower. Henry not only cut the apple and ash logs into easy-to-use size, but stacked them, too. At the end, we asked Henry to trim from another maple a long branch that was hitting some utility lines. The total bill was the original estimate of $175 plus $ $25 for the unestimated work on the last maple.
