Am glad to be rid of this painter !!  The first 2 weeks of the project started off well as a full crew arrived and were properly supervised.  After that it was a steady decline...  quality of the work rapidly deteriorated as crew ( 1 or 2 workers at best) were unsupervised.  I am still cleaning up the paint splatters, broken trim, reinstalling shutters/blinds and various addressing other messes including coffee cups/ soda cans and cigarette butts. They showed up less than 1/2 the time and never communicated.  When they were here they complained about how difficult the job was.   We tried to be fair with them and offered maximum flexibility.  We even went as far as providing additional funds to cover a room which they clearly under quoted...a goodwill gesture on our part.... 
At one point they abandoned the worksite for 10 days and only returned when we threatened legal action.  At this point we were focused on having them paint to the 80% level they had been paid.  They agreed their behavior was highly unprofessional and asked for an opportunity to redeem themselves.  We agreed (our mistake).,  after another 2 weeks they abandoned the project for good stating they felt "they had painted enough".  Bottom line, at this point we are  swallowing the loss and thankful to be rid of him.
