Deck and Porch Service, Mold Remediation + 1 more
They started by washing down the mold. Right away, we had issues. First of all, they used paper haz-mat suits. This, by itself, was fine, except the haz mat suits were ripped and torn. This means they were re-using the paper haz-mat suits. However, those are not re-usable. When we asked the worker's boss, we received the blunt reply "we're on a budget ."
Also, contrary to regulations involved in mold remediation, they did not run any HEPA air filtration while they were washing down the walls. This is required because, otherwise, spores from the mold get into the air and can make people very sick.
Often, they would make appointments to show up, saying "We'll definitely be there tomorrow." So, we unlocked the cellar bulkhead. Several times, we found nobody had come. Nor had anybody told us they weren't coming, so we ended up leaving the bulkhead open all day. The lack of communication was very frustrating, and could have resulted in a break-in. Fortunately, it did not.
After this, they proceeded to vacuum up the water, and painted sealant on the walls. I signed off for partial payment for the work done to date. When I checked with the credit card company a few weeks later, I found the entire payment remaining was taken from the credit card.
I even offered to pay, in cash, the difference between the credit card's service fee and the remaining cost for the job.
After much hassle, they eventually did come back, and started patching in the condo unit which was the focus in the contract. At this point, one worker accidentally broke a window. No big deal, accidents happen. Except, he never told us the window was broken. Only when we asked did we hear "We'll replace the window as a favor to you." A favor? To replace what you broke?
Also, the workers needed to move washers and dryers (we told them not to touch the one which was gas) to seal the back. When they were finished, one of the washers was off-balance, implying it wasn't put back properly. And the gas dryer was moved slightly, and was found to be leaking gas.
So, I cannot recommend this particular branch of the company, based on my experience with them. After they finished, we informed them it was leaking some in the storage unit. He said for "a couple hundred more" he could reseal the floor with hydraulic cement. But, we can do this ourselves. I am flabbergasted with this company and have never been treated this way in my life. The only positive thing I can say is he did return the calls promptly.
Over all very incompetent! And felt like i was dealing the whole time with a used car salesman.
If you do go to them... good luck.
