Tim Moran nearly killed our Welsh Terrier Sailor with rat poisoning that was carelessly strewn about our attic. The poison was not containerized as required by the Rules and Regulations Relating to Pesticides in the State of Rhode Island, Department of Environmental Management, Division of Agriculture, Pesticides Management. Dr. Sarah Horn, DVM, who attended Sailor at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists wrote this excerpt from her discharge instructions:

and quot;Sailor presented to OSVS on 8/12/13 for evaluation of lethargy, coughing, shallow breathing, and a fecal and urinary accident. Sailor was panting and her physical exam revealed an elevated heart rate. With an ultrasound probe, fluid was detected around Sailor's heart and in her chest. A diagnostic sample was obtained, and the fluid was blood. After discussing possible causes, it was determined that Sailor likely ingested a certain form of rat poisoning that causes spontaneous bleeding.and quot; The report goes on in detail to establish beyond any reasonable doubt that the cause of Sailor's near death condition was the poison left in our attic by Moran. But I won't. This excerpt paints the picture.

When I called Tim Moran to advise him of what had happened, he expressed no concern for Sailor and initially tried to deny fault. This callous response so enraged Dr. Horn that she insisted upon sending Moran a copy of Sailor's Discharge Summary and Instructions. As this, photos and other evidence mounted, Moran stopped denying fault and simply stonewalled. He ignored the diagnosis from the vet and he ignored a letter from Attorney Matthew Callaghan advising that he had violated the law.

Sailor's veterinary bill was $1155.37. I presented this to Tim Moran to pay. He said, and quot;I don't think so.and quot;

Sailor has recovered, although only God knows what permanent damage was done by the hand of Tim Moran.

UPDATE TO MORAN RESPONSE: The vet's report was conclusive and based upon her independent diagnosis. We kept the attic locked because it adjoined our guest room and was used for storage. We were frequently in the attic to store and retrieve, so it obviously had flooring. Sailor often entered the attic unnoticed and was sometimes accidentally locked in for long periods. This happened several times around the occasion of Sailor's poisoning, as we were frequently working in the attic to prepare for the sale of our house. Sailor was contained in our yard by an Invisible Fence and was in perfect health until poisoned. We took photos of the loose chunks of rat poison, including one freshly chewed. We found no evidence of rats other than Moran himself, who trespassed and sneaked into the attic to remove the evidence while I was dealing with furniture movers. I won't press the trespassing offence but I will share the photos and vet's report with Rhode Island authorities, the BBB and etc. I find Moran's lack of care for or about Sailor to be astonishing. .

Response from MORAN PEST CONTROL
"There is no scientific evidence or proof that Sailor ingested poison. The Vet never confirmed this. The area where bait was carefully placed was in a locked attic with no flooring, only insulation. Elsewhere we used only tamper-resistant bait stations. I never "ignored" anyone, I simply am not liable. The attic was locked away and always had to be opened for each service. The customer did state that (member name removed) heard "noises" in the attic. I explained that no bait was found in the dog's stomach, in the detailed report no evidence was cited. The vet conjectured based on discussions with her client. Also, the dog had a door to outside, with no fenced yard. I believe the dog is 10 years old. No apology."

Fine. Price was too steep for what was done.

He was fair in his pricing and was honest with us. We initially thought we had a termite problem, but he was honest with us and told us we only had ants.

They told us that they have never seen those things before. They suggested we gave them a flea bomb. It worked out fine. They responded within a day. They were punctual.

After I saw two baby squirrels in my living room on different occasions, I called Moran Pest Control. Mr. Moran said his charge was $300 so we agreed that I would pay $175 in advance and the rest after he caught the squirrels. After 5 monitoring trips and no squirrels in the traps, we agreed that we either had smart squirrels or that they had left. Mr Moran collected his traps and nothing was said about the remaining $175. He was very responsible and professional.
