DENIS PAINTING COMPANY, INC.

The work had been scheduled for early Spring but because of bad weather they had to postpone it until mid July (we were away from mid May to mid July and they wanted us to be here when they did the work)
They power washed our two story, 40' x 50' house, sanded the trim board and eventually had to do and additional power washing with a stronger product (they had warned us of that possibility and of the additional cost it might entail). They repainted the trim and stained the siding with brushes not rollers or sprayers. 
They completed the work in two weeks, despite a pretty hot spell and rainy days.  We were impressed with their attention to details: removing down spouts to paint the trim, repainting our front door and the bulkhead to the basement, staining trellises we had removed to make the painting easier.
The personal was always very professional and discreet: no loud conversation or blaring radios.

We were told that the staining would be done using an oil based stain. They showed up with a water based stain explaining that the oil base would not adhere to the previously stained areas on which we used Thompson's water seal. There was no adjustment in price which I didn't expect because the cost was primarily for labor. The job was completed in less than 2 days by Denis and an assistant. It looks okay, but we noticed that water doesn't bead up like it did with the Thompson's. Time will tell.
I was told that all rough areas would be sanded. When I pointed out an area of concern after the staining was completed, I was told how I could take care of it. Further, I expected that any nail or screw holes would have been filled before staining. Denis explained that the filled holes would be obvious and suggested that I might like to find a colored putty to match the stain that he applied. I was disappointed in his sense of responsibility and felt that these were things he should have taken care of.

On both dates, Mr. Dulude and his assistant arrived on time and set to work immediately.  Each job was completed within three hours without any obvious break being taken. The north side of the house was populated with a considerable growth of algae and what Denis called mildew.  Both were completely removed and the vinyl siding appeared almost as good as new.  The porch flooring and the deck cleaned up nicely as well although not as if newly constructed, but I had not expected that it would.  I was something of a nuisance asking numerous questions.  These inquiries were answered exhibiting substantial professionalism. The staining operation progressed with the same efficiency and attention to details. They provided all materials sparing me the task of selecting and purchasing them myself.  Several small tasks, not technically part of their mission, were accomplished with no particular notice and no additional charge.  Both jobs were completed in good time.  I was very pleased with the work and would definitely hire Denis for future painting or washing jobs.

Mr. Dulude promptly responded to my initial phone call within the same day.  He was able to schedule an initial appointment within that first week and present a proposal in three days.  I explained that I needed the work to be completed within a
definite time frame, weather permitting, and he was able to comply with my schedule.  The house had weathered shingles in
need of cleaning and treating.  I had completed similiar work 2 years earlier on the front and sides of the house, but the back was
beginning to look poorly.  Denis was able to perform the work so that it all matched perfectly.  He went the extra mile and refastened any loose shingles overall.

His next project was to sand and refinish a lovely mahogany porch and stairs on the front of the house, and paint the trim in that area.  He also powerwashed fencing along the perimiter of the back yard, making it look brand new.  The last big project was to
clean and stain a very weathered deck on the back of the house.  Being a resident of a salt-water community, he is most familiar
with the damage done by the sun and salt-air.  I had recently arranged for the removal of a hot tub from the deck, and Denis was able to restore that area to nicely match the rest of the deck.

The restoration work was all completed to my satisfaction, and within the required time frame.  I found Mr. Dulude to be professional and very easy to work with.  I would not hesitate to hire him in the future.
