A-1 Roofing & Construction

In March, a winter storm badly damaged our roof. It needed to be replaced. Completely at a loss, I started searching for a roofing company. Never having done this before, it was a daunting task. Have you ever looked for a roofing contractor?? The BBB lists 387 contractors near our address! We got several estimates, and each one had something about it that was a deal breaker. Finally, a friend recommended A1 Roofing and Construction. I called them, and Sean Napolitano called me back immediately. Within a couple of days, Sean had someone come out and inspect the roof and see what was required. He came out to the house and sat down with me and went over the estimate, answering any and all questions I had. The estimate was concise, with no hidden issues. We agreed to go ahead with Early on the day of the appointment, a dumpster was delivered. The driver placed wood beneath it to protect the driveway, and placed it so that we could still get in and out of our garage. The crew arrived promptly at 7, and the work began. The front and the back of the house were tarped, as was our in ground pool. They even moved the deck furniture out of the way, just in case. They worked methodically and very professionally, with a project manager here the whole time. He answered my questions and pitched in with the crew to get the job done! This group worked well together, very efficiently. I have to admit, I was a little nervous at first. The yard was covered with all of the equipment and supplies that they needed to complete the job. I mean covered! I really didn’t need to worry… By 2:30, the job was finished. The crew was gone, and you never would have known they were here except for the beautiful (yes, beautiful!) new roof. Equipment and tarps were gone. The yard was in better shape than when they came! The yard furniture was put back. Not a shred of trash, a stray nail-nothing remained. About an hour later, A1 picked up their (now full) dumpster. The driver picked it up, packed up the wood it was sitting on, pulled the truck into the street, picked up any stray nails from where the dumpster was sitting, and blew off the driveway! Amazing! I would recommend A1 Roofing and Construction without reservation. The things that set them apart from the very beginning were; a very fair price, a complete explanation of what work was being performed both verbally and in writing, the 50 year warranty on the materials and the 12 year warranty on their workmanship, and, last but not least, their stellar reputation. The new roof looks great. It has Architectural Shingles that give the roof a look of depth. A1’s stellar reputation, in my eyes, is richly deserved. Thank you very much Sean Napolitano and Company! Work was performed in the same day as they scheduled it and it looks great! We will see this winter if there are any leaks or not...

This is the first time we rented a dumpster so was unsure how much we could direct the location of the dumpster, etc. We had wood to put under the dumpster to protect the driveway. When the dumpster arrived, the driver said they bring the wood with them. And when he picked it up, he took it back. I also watched him pick it up and he was extra careful with everything and even picked up some wood remnants off of our driveway that were remnants from when we were loading the dumpster. He then even used an air blower to further clear off the driveway. We were really satisfied! The dumpster was $280 but we went over the 1 ton so had to pay another $50 which was fine.

They show up with a big crew, The old roof is off in a few hours and the new one on well before dark. Property is left cleaner than when they started Roof looks great - we can't wait to finish painting the house!

The quote was a fair price compared to the other quotes we received.  The date was set to start the job but was delayed to the following week because of weather.  The roof was completed in 1 day.  I had to call because there was an area where the roof pitch changes that did not look right but Sean had his guys come right out and correct it the day I called.
The roof looks beautiful and we are happy with the work.

On the first day (Monday), 10 workers showed up.  The old windows were removed and disposed of.  By the end of the day, the 11 windows were in place.  This included any rot removal and repair along the way.  From Tuesday thru Thursday, two workers showed up to install the siding and gutters, while another two worked on the window details on the inside.  Very skilled in their profession, the carpenters managed to copy the original framework on the windows -- the house was built in 1930.  So all the new construction inside, matches the original wood work on the rest of the house.  
A-1 is the perfect example of team-work.  Professionally trained in their specialities, they understand the value of time.  None is wasted.  Completely thorough in handling the details of each job.  It was a pleasure to see these wonderful people transform an 80+ year-old house!  All I can say is, Thank You!

We would definitely recommend this company. Other roofing companies had told us our job could take several weeks and that they would have to do it in sections. Sean told us his crew could finish the roof in 2 days and he was right. The difference was that A1 Roofing/Sean was committed to our job and wasn't trying to squeeze us in between other jobs like the other companies. They arrived on day 1 with approximately 8 roof workers, a man who did the copper work, another person to do the sky lights, an experienced painter and foreman to oversee the work. Everyone was great-very professional and hardworking. The roof, skylights and painting looks great and we are extremely happy with the results. Our neighbors were amazed at the quality of the work and how quickly they got the job done. Honestly-I can be very picky and hate dealing with home contractors most times. Sean and his crew were outstanding and I highly recommend them.

We contacted A1 Roofing and Construction after finding them on Angie's List.  From the initial contact and scoping of the job we felt comfortable with the company.  They were clear, thorough, and set reasonable expectations on cost and timing right up front.  Once we decided to use them to do the roof, they booked the job quickly and began work in less than 2 weeks.  The crew and foreman were polite and conducted themselves in a workman like manner.  The job was completed in a day and came out beautifully.  I would not hesitate to recommend Sean and his company to anyone in Rhode Island who needs a roof.

I had called seven different roofing contracters, of the seven only 4 responded. One quote was extremely low with no detail two were well detailed and the last was more the 2 times everyone else. Chose A1 because he was one of th e detailed quotes and good reviews over all. A1 also took the time to respond to negative reviews on Angie's list.
Sean showed up on time Saturday to look at our roof. He measured the entire roof. While checking the roof it was suggested we also change out the skylight because of its age. Sean said he would work the quote and have it to us by Monday. Received a detailed quote Sunday morning via email followed by one in the mail. The quote included several options for skylights and blinds. Sean quickly responded to all questions via email. All in less than a day.

The job.

The crew showed up early on the day of the job. I was a little concerned as there were only 4 crew and one foreman. I never saw 4 people work so hard, they worked as a team and new exactly what each of their jobs were. They even took time to take down our flag fold it and place it in a safe location so it wouldn't get dirty. The roof and skylight were completed by 730 that evening. When they left that evening, you wouldn't of known they had been there except for the dumpster and the new roof. Even the neighbors were surprised. All debris and nails were picked up except for one 4x4inch piece that had slid under a chair. The dumpster was picked up the next day before 8 am. We now have a beautiful new roof and I have no concerns of my kids stepping on any debris. Oh and I love the rain sensor on the skylight that automatically closed when it started raining at 3 am, now if I had only remembered to close the sun roof in the car

Sean has been professional in every way. The zinc was installed promptly. He gave a quote and that was exactly the bill.
